May 14, 200321 yr comment_37378 What is your goal here? If you're going for high quality, a new front bumper, guards, overrider bar, rubber strips, and other hardware would probably run $750. I believe MSA has everything (not sure about the overrider bar). Alternatively, you can get a used bumper and get it rechromed but still pay for the rubber parts. May 14, 200321 yr comment_37387 You could try Andy Russell, e-mail him at z@datsundude.comHis price on the new front bumper is one of the best, under 300... as for the rubber strips, overrider and bumper guards you'll have to contact him.. May 15, 200321 yr comment_37504 For custom, you could get some of the new fiberglass bumpers with no holes to put any of the accessories on them, and get them chromed. You need to know somebody to chrome them so you can get a deal....total bumper cost paying full price for chroming is ~600.Does anyone know if there is someone sellling this style of bumper made out of metal chromed for BOTH ends of the car? Both ends one piece, no holes in bumper. I know for instance that Vic Brit sells the front like this, but the rear is still a 3 piece. The one piece is super sharp looking on the rear. May 15, 200321 yr comment_37516 Andy doesn't have his site up yet... last time I talked with him he was working on getting his real estate license and was planning on the parts business as a hobby or side job part time. Not sure if he's going to finish his web-site or not to tell the truth. He does have the front "euro" steel bumper and the end pieces for the rear. You'll have to get the center piece of the rear from Zedd Findings in Canada as they aren't available in the US unless they get them through Charlie or have other contacts in Canada. As far as chroming fiberglass.. not sure that can even be done.Anyone who wants Andy's price list can PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you a copy, or e-mail him direct and get it from him. May 16, 200321 yr comment_37682 I didn't know if fiberglass could be chromed either, so I called around.Everybody said "anything can be chromed" ....I was expecting 'hell no what a stupid question'.They are a lot harder to chrome, so they cost a little bit more, something like $500 per bumper.and if someone even gently touches them (in a driving situation) I bet they're dust. But w/o chrome, they are so cheap, MSA$120 ea. Hey, everybody, if I got the fiberglass one piece bumpers front and back, what color to paint? My Z is a red100 white interior 72 (so it is orange) just like in my user picture. the guy who owned it before me had painted the taillight area orange, and im going to paint it back to the gray. (unless someone responds and says I have a datsun red rig, and my rear is the gray, lets trade)Would you paint the fiberglass bumpers that gray or body color or ? At this point, I just don't know. The rig has a orange bre fr and rear spoilers (spook).Later,Dogma Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6147-in-need-of-a-72-front-bumper/#findComment-37682 Share on other sites
May 16, 200321 yr comment_37699 Well, yes, anything can be chromed... but why chrome something that is somewhat flexible as chrome plating is not and will only crack and peel in time...... As far as what color to paint a fiberglass bumper... that's a matter of opinion. Body color, grey, or a satin black would all look pretty good with your color. A lot depends on the body color... in your case, I think the taillight panel grey or satin black would look best but that's just my opinion..... May 16, 200321 yr comment_37706 I thought that to chrome something it had to be metal so that you could apply an electric current to it to pull the nickel and/or chrome ions out of suspension and deposit them on the metal. I imagine a foil or metallic paint of some type could be applied to fiberglass to simulate chrome. Who knows what they're able to do nowadays.
