Posted February 13, 20196 yr comment_568216 Recently pulled my latest 240Z out of a side yard in Phoenix AZ. From the info in the glove compartment it is obvious that this car was sold new from Morrie Sage's Universal City Datsun in N. Hollywood, CA. I bought it from the second or third owner. It is very original except for the seat covers. My suspicion is that these covers were installed by the dealer before the initial sale as they used the original new white backs with inserts that were very well done. The car's orange paint and the orange and white inserts along with the cars very original condition and options (auto, A.C., white interior) makes me think the car was an early version of a common way to up the price by the dealer of an in demand car like the early 240Z, a CALIFORNIA SPECIAL. The 89 year old owner unfortunately died one day after I bought the car so I was not able to question him, his wife who was the major driver of the car had died before him so no one had any pertinent info. Has anyone else seen something like this as a dealer installed option? I've seen lots of upgrades but never this. February 13, 20196 yr comment_568217 I suspect the rest of the car looks fantastic for it's age, so with all due respect, I'm not sure I would consider those seat covers to be an "upgrade". Looks very geographically (regionally) appropriate, but if it were me, I'd go back to stock. February 14, 20196 yr Author comment_568264 The first person to own this car was the infamous Ralph Williams (A.K.A. Ralph Williams Chrysler Plymouth in So Cal). Read court cases. Wonder if he bought it for his wife.......or? If I were keeping it I would be all over those floor mats!
