There's  some Ford inner fender that's close, a littile too large but they'll work. Ebay has 50 for about $10 or so?

@gwri8 @SteveJ turned me onto them.

I just picked these up but from a source in USA. Looks like they will fit

I measured what I believe to be a genuine Nissan panel rivet to compare to the measurements of the BMW part. The BMW part seems to be a little smaller. Those rivets may have issues with staying firmly in the anchor points.

The measurements for the Nissan part numbers are in blue.

So this got me looking on ebay. I found some panel rivet kits that have rivets in a similar size to the Z rivets.

It looks like the Nissan part is designed for a 5mm hole, while the Ford (and many others on the market) appear to be designed for a 1/4 inch hole.

And to make a correction, it looks like the BMW rivet is likely the correct width. Depth may still be an issue. Let us know if they work.

Harbor Freight has a 90 rivet set that contains 50 5mm rivets for a reasonable price.

Dennis

Harbor Freight in Palm Springs?

Probably one in Mar-a Lago for the "Beast" when it needs some Schina valve caps.

Gave up on these rivets a long time ago.

Now I install steel 10-24 riv-nuts and black oxide truss head machine screws.

Never lose the pins, panels are held down tight. Works great for black interiors, I guess you'd be painting heads for other color interiors. Black on white or blue or tan would look cool though wouldn't it?

Yes you have to drill out each of the 5mm holes to whatever size the riv nuts need but once you do it you'll never baulk when you have to remove a panel to do any modifications (which we never do, right?)

That was funny in my head a minute ago but not so much now.

I apologize Dennis. It's been raining all day here and I'm a little stir crazy from being inside. Sorry!

Harbor Freight is everywhere thank goodness.

No apology needed.  And you're correct.  No harbor Freight in Palm Springs.  I have to leave town to shop at one.  I can relate to going stir crazy on a rainy day.  The rain here last Thursday wiped out the only three roads leading out of town to the interstate.  Nine inches of rain locally.  Stay dry!

So my review of the bmw rivets..I put in the rear quarter plastic panels only so far. They hold the panels tight and I believe they will work but I wish the head area was a larger circle the rivets I have are 10mm circles head and I think the Nissan ones are 13mm based on the specs a few posts up. I am going to use them for now and see if they work on all the panels. I have a 280z not sure if that matters though. I will update this when I put more panels in.
