They don't have an "amp rating", generally. Probably have better luck calculating the max amperage appropriate for the wire gauge. Start from scratch. I just picked these from the internet. Littelfuse and Digikey are well-established names. SAE, of course. Omega has been around forever and used to publish a paper catalog that was basically a primer on all things electronic. https://www.sae.org/publications/technical-papers/content/650122/ https://www.sae.org/search/?qt="fusible%20link"&sort=relevance&sort-dir=desc&display=list§or=%28"AUTOC"%29 http://media.digikey.com/PDF/Data%20Sheets/Littelfuse%20PDFs/Fusible_Link_FAQ.pdf https://www.digikey.com/ https://www.littelfuse.com/~/media/electronics/product_catalogs/littelfuse_fuseology_selection_guide.pdf.pdf https://www.omega.com/auto/pdf/ref_fusesizingguide.pdf Edited April 11, 20195 yr by Zed Head Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61793-280z-fusible-links/?&page=13#findComment-573039 Share on other sites
April 12, 20195 yr comment_573087 The majority of info on the FLWX sheet was the same as the FTX so I didn't bother to duplicate the translation. Almost everything on the FLWX datasheet was the same as the FTX, so I didn't bother to do both. About the only thing that was different was the color column, so I did that one and didn't bother duplicating the effort on the rest of the info. Guess I should have made that clear and saved you the trouble. As for the amperage rating, the amperage that it can handle depends (among other things) on ambient temperature and the length of the link. My read on the situation is that datasheet isn't for fusible links. It's for wire designed to be turned into fusible links. That said, I agree... I think they could have specified a typical case based on a fixed length at a specific ambient temperature. Would have made a convenient column to include. April 12, 20195 yr comment_573088 Here's the datasheets that I translated earlier. FTX series: FLWX series (that is pretty much the same as the FTX with the exception of the color column: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61793-280z-fusible-links/?&page=13#findComment-573088 Share on other sites

June 23, 20195 yr comment_578208 Haha!! I could possibly be convinced to make more. You know they aren't metric though, right? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61793-280z-fusible-links/?&page=13#findComment-578208 Share on other sites
March 2, 20232 yr comment_650963 This is an old topic tread I wonder if anybody will still see it. All the info resulted very informative and useful to start the upgrade of the fuse links for amore modern version. Anyhow, I just have a question. I replaced the fuse links with the Maxi fuse version and respective fuse-bracket. This involved -only- cutting the four supply cables (white) and the lead cables with the power to the different control functions (white-red) and reconnecting them in the bracket. This is the only change I did. I have voltage signal before and after the new fuses, so all fine. The detail now is that the Amp light in the dashboard does not work and no voltage is measures (also the fuel gauge is dead). The engine cranks but does not start. in view do the simple replacement I did all the rest should work but now something obviously is not right. I would appreciate an indication of something that I might not have considered. See picture of current install. March 2, 20232 yr comment_650965 Did things work correctly before? Supply some history of the vehicle. What is it? Did you disconnect the battery before doing the work? March 2, 20232 yr comment_650969 All worked fine and battery was disconnected. The issues I was trying to solve was faulty contacts for headlights and a stutter (electric failure just above 65mph that will stop after reducing power). All worked fine but these details Edited March 2, 20232 yr by DHA280Z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61793-280z-fusible-links/?&page=13#findComment-650969 Share on other sites
