Z Dizzy's

Looking at changing my 240 points distributor to electronic by ripping one off a 280zx. I have found one on an AUTO car with an E12-80 black box on the side, is this OK or do I need a manual car. This site :

seems to infer that I need a manual one.

Anyone know if an auto's dizzy will do the job?

just make sure to get everything!

you know that little piece that attaches it to the block as well for an easy as dropping it in swap. then just make sure your at TDC and line the wires up.

also you will need to remove your ballast resistor as you will no longer need it.

its a good and easy swap and i personally like it lots.

remember to get the whole assembly though, if you dont you will have heart ache trying to line it up

good luck

get the coil also and the bracket because the 12volt coil in larger in diameter. Like Zmefly said be sure to get the lower section of the dist that bolts to the block. look in the arcives for installation instructions , I got mine froma '79 zx and it works great. run sooo much better. :classic:

Thanks guys.. got all the bits today for 30 bucks (that's err.. about 18US I guess :o) ) . One question though, what exactly is the ballast resistor and what does it look like? My ignorance, I'm used to dealing with cars with points I'm afraid..
