June 26, 20195 yr Author comment_578367 Thanks for the confirmation. I tried turning the toe adjustment one full turn out on each side but no change. Maybe I'll try a couple of more tomorrow just to see if there's any change. I'm running out of ideas. June 26, 20195 yr comment_578376 Really strange, I was hoping we could find something causing your problem, It is quite perplexing. June 26, 20195 yr comment_578381 The compression rod controls longitudinal toe compliance. Are you sure the nuts on the body-side compression rod attachment are torqued? September 18, 20195 yr Author comment_584307 I'm back and have the answer. I think we should all be fired for not seeing this. Apparently I had the lower control swivel on the wrong side of the swing arm. Doh! It should be on the bottom, not the top. I still don't know why none of us saw this, it's obvious in the first post if you look carefully. And the drawing in post number 29 appears to be wrong even though it's from the FSM. The car tracks straight now. September 18, 20195 yr comment_584308 So you're saying the ball joint was mounted on the top side of the control arm? Sort of hard to see in the earlier pictures. Glad you found it! September 19, 20195 yr comment_584314 Uhhh... My ball joints are mounted on the top sides of the control arms. Just like they're shown in the manuals. I believe that's how they are supposed to be. You're saying that's not correct??? September 19, 20195 yr comment_584325 The FSM drawing is correct. And the Captain's car is correct. Yours is not correct. Ball joint bolts to top. Edited September 19, 20195 yr by gundee CO has it correct Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/61963-front-suspension-renew-and-adjustment/?&page=6#findComment-584325 Share on other sites
