Trying to get the thermostat housing off the old engine. Enthusiasm snapped off the long bolt head and im guessing the bolt is rust seized. Perfect thermostat in it. Frustration is slowly turning to hammer time.

They rust inside the bore of the housing.  The threads could be fine but the shaft will be stuck.

Crank bolt out. Took a bit of reading and a few wrong answers but its done... bolts are different lengths. The one on the f54 is longer. Significant?

The damper hub is probably thicker.  Don't mix them up.

Damper hub is the largish washer ? Same size

The hub is center of the damper/pulley. You'd want to compare how much bolt sticks out the back with the washer in place.

Cleaning up gear. Still waiting on parts. Started with shown products the polish was not effective. Ended up using mothers aluminum polish. Results look ok in pictures but not amazing inside 5 feet. The cover has history. Any recommendations on cleaning or keeping the finish intact (other than never starting the engine)

  • 2 weeks later...

Pretty displeased today. After a two week wait for parts i got engine mounts and steering bushings that don't fit. Steering bushings came from motorsport and engine mounts came from z source.

Managed to get the passenger side bushing in with a couple of hours effort, forced in. Drivers side impossible. Ended up reinstalling the old one back on the drivers side. Aint pretty.

The mounts alignment pins are way off. I might grind them down. Even if i get them to fit they are not the same as oem.

thoughts?
