Posted December 24, 200123 yr comment_1584 This should be simple!how much power could i squeeze out of 1982 L28 f54 blockwith a 1983 P90 head ?with a Ld28 crank balanced and lighten'dalong with forged pistons and rods fully balanced and coated!I plan on turbo'ing the motor and switching it to a fuel injected system and to a distributerless system.I know it's possible to do this with some time however I would like an estimate of what i could pull out of that engine.ThankzNick Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/621-how-much-power/ Share on other sites
December 25, 200123 yr comment_1587 I'd say somewhere around 250hp. I assume if your going all out you will opt for a little head work while your at it? When I rebuilt my '81F54 block I used a '81 P79 head and it seems to work well, however I have '70 SU carbs from Z therapy. Another thing to ask yourself is the trans, 5-speed. I used a '78 shift handle to clear the tunnel on my '73 240Z and as a result didn't have to cut anything. R200 rear end works well in the 240Z. December 26, 200123 yr comment_1590 What about carburation? Maximum RPM to be sought after, head work? Compression ratio? Is this before or after the turbo? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/621-how-much-power/#findComment-1590 Share on other sites
December 26, 200123 yr Author comment_1591 as i said before it won't be carb'd it'll be using fuel injected throttle bodies i plan on buying a intake manifold from tws and some webber doce throttle bodies. along with a dta engine management system dta got "1970 Datsun 240Z 3.1L engine with Garrett ball bearing turbo 720cc inj 550 BHP / 6200 RPM @ 1.4 bar" so i'm aiming for around 350-450 I plan on ceramic coat the tops of the valves and pistons. and to use an hpc coat of the valve springs and conrods. i'll have the ld28 crank knifed edged and balanced along with the rods and pistons. I also plan on doing a port/polish on the head with a 5 angle valve job on the exhaust and a 3 angle on the intake. I"m seeking a 8.6 cr with dished pistons. 2mm head gasket the turbo will be spooled of a try y header of some sort. (custom) along with a manifold to mount to the individual tb's i'll also be converting the distributer to a non distributer system. probably using a mis dis2 err whatever it's called unless the DTA system can do it. any other suggestions you can give me i'd appreciate it.
