Posted May 3, 20195 yr comment_574798 Precursor: So I’m 49 and I don’t feel like doing squat. Really doesn’t matter what it is. Maybe there is something wrong with me. I just did 1 of 3 steering bushings on my Tundra and honestly I feel paying the $400 to have someone else do it sounds wonderful! I have one of my 300zx half torn apart, had a goal that won’t occur, so she is kind of sitting there. My 71 needs to be torn apart, painted, etc, etc. At where I’m at now, I don’t ever feel I’ll finish and honestly, whatever. I don’t want to sell anything as I still dig going for rides in the 240z and my other junky 88 300zx. Just puts a smile on my face. So I found a 77 that looks really, really clean, $11.5k. Seems to have some minor issues but I don’t have to take the car completely apart. I have the money, but yes it would wizz the wife off. The neat thing is it is same color combo as my sons first car, that was really rusty. We sold it awhile ago. I know he would get a kick out of owning it in the future. Selling my 240z would help offset the price but honestly why. I may get a desire as I get older to work I get again. So are fairly clean 280z worth 12k? Is that high side? I mean it’s a decent driver. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/62106-need-advice/ Share on other sites
May 3, 20195 yr comment_574800 That is in good shape, just a matter of time before the 280Zs start heading up the scale. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/62106-need-advice/#findComment-574800 Share on other sites
May 3, 20195 yr comment_574803 its not a lot of money, if you have the space to keep it from the elements, AND you want something you can drive right now then Go for it. If you get too much blow back, or need to free something up, sell the 300 purely from an investment point of view. Mainly I want to see you on the road, so a ready to drive vehicle sounds good to me :) Its all about space IMHO. I just think you deserve a driver right now. I suspect you would get much less blow back if you had the driver vs the torn apart 300zx, so move it into long term storage, and get this one in the garage. May 4, 20195 yr Author comment_574806 Interesting article. Watching the prices on bat and the auctions id disagree. https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2018/06/20/vintage-nissan-and-datsuns-that-are-hot-or-not Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/62106-need-advice/#findComment-574806 Share on other sites
May 4, 20195 yr comment_574807 I would like a very nice condition mid 90's 300zx, I think they are the best looking of all the Z's (including the S-30 for that matter), but I appreciate more the simplicity of the S-30 with its straight 6. anyway IF I get a bigger garage I would be all over a 90's 300zx, heck even the 2+2 model of that car is snazzy, prob stay away from the TT just cause I don't want the hassle. I believe in buying what you want and taking other opinions of value with a grain of salt. Things are just very tight in the bay. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/62106-need-advice/#findComment-574808 Share on other sites
May 4, 20195 yr comment_574816 I am not sure I agree with the article either. Theyre basing it on quotes. Which may or may not be indicative of whats what. It may be that transactions have slowed due to price increases, not lack of interest and the cars that are hot are still somewhat undervalued. Iknow the 510s are when I browse for cars Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/62106-need-advice/#findComment-574816 Share on other sites
