mushupork5 Posted May 25, 2003 Share #28 Posted May 25, 2003 you can dim the lights, you just have to add in a variable resistor

As I recall it came in the packaging of a Logitech optical mouse as a way of drawing attention to it on the store shelf. I just found mine (I must be a real packrat) and it's still blinking after probably two years. Perhaps I'll put it in the car as well.
mushupork5 Posted May 28, 2003 Share #30 Posted May 28, 2003 I just made a really easy to understand guide on LEDs and how to know which resistors to get, I am going to actually do this to my gauge and have pictures and details on the best way to install the lights in your gauges but I made this to help people to easily understand what to do with wiring. I'm off to get some bright LEDs and a variable resistor or 2 to actually wire this up and take pictures. But until then here is what i have:Really Really Basic Car LED Guide
tanny Posted May 28, 2003 Share #31 Posted May 28, 2003 The diagram of the resistor wired to the LED didn't come through on my computer. Just box with red X. Thanks for the info. Victor.
mushupork5 Posted May 28, 2003 Share #32 Posted May 28, 2003 that web server kind of sucks, so just refresh the page and it will show, i got me some blue leds, 390 ohm resistors and a variable resistor, so i'll have some pics up as early as tomorrow
MicksZ Posted May 29, 2003 Share #33 Posted May 29, 2003 On the topic of lighting up dull instrument clusters I have come across a small roughly 2mm dia. neon 'string' which is powered by a small transformer that would easily run 12V. I think I am going to run the wire around the face of the gauges thus light up the instrument's a whole lot better! and in any colour you want! I am still lookin into it, keep ya all posted.. WyreTheWolf Posted August 13, 2003 Share #34 Posted August 13, 2003 I ran into this site a while back... I am thinking about replacing all the lights on the 240Z that I own with LED lamps... they very rarely ever go out... and they use nearly NO power...http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=CARA nice blue glow from the dash does sound very nice! carguyinok Posted August 13, 2003 Share #35 Posted August 13, 2003 I was standing in line @ autozone ( I think thats all anyone dose there) and they have a huge deal of Ricer Toys they just got in stock. One of the things was the LED dash lamps. I think they had them marked $13.95 for two sets of three with dimmer.
Zedrally Posted August 20, 2003 Share #36 Posted August 20, 2003 I came across multi colour LEDS the other day.It should be possible to provide a switching array so you can alter colours from white to red, blue etc?Has anyone progressed any further on this topic?
