Posted May 21, 200321 yr comment_38297 This car looks very clean.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2416254716&category=6187 Anyone familiar with this car and what it might go for?Are those roundtops off a earlier 240Z? I don't think you could tell the difference if someone put 240 badges on it! Was there an interior change with the 260Z? May 21, 200321 yr comment_38303 If I'm not mistaken, this car has been up for auction before and not sold.....Yeah, the carbs are the early carbs. The interior is fairly similar to a 240 with some changes to the dash, especially the heater control panel which is the same as the later 280's, and some other trim changes. This car isn't bad... but it does have a few very obvious faults. First is the bungee cord holding the battery...:stupid: Second is the odd looking vinyl on the tunnel. That's just a couple things I picked up on right away... so there might be more oddities.I'd say this car won't bring much more than 5K, if it goes above that it won't be by much I believe. It's nice, but it isn't as nice as it could be.There are a lot of obvious differences from this and a 240 and just because it was only made for one year doesn't necessarily make it any more valuable than a 240. May 21, 200321 yr comment_38309 I actually looked at that car recently. I was cruising along I-20 just outside of Atlanta and glanced over at the Nissan dealership next to the highway to see if there were any 350Z's on the showroom floor. I couldn't tell from that vantage point doing 70mph, but I could also see the opened hood of a 1st generation Z car. It even appeared to be the same color green as my 240Z was originally. When I came back by later I stopped to take a look. Sure enough, there was a red 350Z with this particular 260Z sitting next to it. Quite a few people were looking at the 260 and ignoring the 350. The price sticker in the window said "ask" so I asked. The answer was somewhere around $14,000, I don't recall exactly. Partially because I wasn't interested in a 260Z and partially because the priced seemed so ridiculously high there was no point in remembering it. I does look very nice. The paint appears to be the original color but resprayed on the outside. The engine compartment paint wasn't as fresh. It does appear to be a quite nice restoration, but I'm no expert so don't go blowing $14,000 just because I said it looked nice. May 22, 200321 yr comment_38335 I'm not certain, but, the rear tail-light area resembles a 280z model with the separate reverse lights. I was under the impression that the 260z was identical to the 240z except for a few interior changes and a bigger engine.Could this be a 280z with smaller bumpers and 260z badging? May 22, 200321 yr comment_38336 Originally posted by 2ManyZs If I'm not mistaken, this car has been up for auction before and not sold..... i remember seeing this car on ebay before, as well. i also seem to recall some sort of issues with either the selling dealer, or the condition of the interior.take a look at the seller's feedback. 2 cars "conveniently" sold locally before the auction ended...if the old thread is not in one of our forums, maybe it's at zcar.com. May 22, 200321 yr comment_38345 All the 260's had the different taillights that carried over to the 280.I remember this car because of those rather ugly wire wheels...:devious: This one is nice, but it's not in the 14K catagory if you ask me... how many people would pay that for any Z that has a bungee cord holding the battery, especially when it's sitting in a Nissan dealers showroom? May 22, 200321 yr Author comment_38403 Thanks for the info folks. I would have to agree $14K is way out of line. The search goes on...... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6265-ebay-260z/#findComment-38403 Share on other sites
May 22, 200321 yr comment_38423 2Many, The tunnel vinyl is stock, i have the same vinyl on my 260. The early 260 had this particular design. The bungee was an optional item. I don't see that in the auction. Last time I looked they were asking for a starting bid of $5k, but, that did not meet the reserve. May 22, 200321 yr comment_38432 It's OK! Take a deep breath. If you missed out in buying that one for 14K, you can still get this one for 15K.http://classicdatsun.com/fs/mannz.htmlHey! if this is really going to be the prices for Z cars, Then I really F'd up scraping my brown one. I could have stuck some old parts on her and got 5~6K out of her! This car is on the showroom floor at a Nissan dealer in Conyers, Georgia with a price sticker in the window that says "Ask for price". I was there and asked for the price and I believe the answer was 14K.
