Hi all,

Are the wrinkles in the pic from the factory (this is a 11/69 240Z) or should this area be smooth?

 When you're nearly 50, wrinkles are part of the package.

Actually they are stock from the faxtory. You will find more if you look. 

None of these wrinkles on mine...  even back in 98 when I had the Z sandblasted.  Although I do see some bodywork in that area.  Maybe these were smoothed out with filler?  Enjoy the before and after shots...

Sheet metal shapes were formed on a hydraulic press over shaping bucks with heat and pressure.  Your car is a perfect illustration of the technology at the time and just how much curvature could be formed in sheet metal.  It is why, for instance, the early headlight 'scoops' were made of FRP and later ones metal as the technology and machinery improved.
