Hi guys,

Any idea if the rubber grommet for the dome light switch (the switch mounted in front of the door) is still available somewhere?

The one on my driver's side door crumbled when I went to change the dead switch out and am having difficulty finding a new grommet online.

I would need a good working sample of the part to reproduce it. 

The pictured grommet looks good but is actually very brittle and the rear posts are split off. The other one has crumbled away. Does anyone have a source to purchase these or a cast/mold product that might work?

MSA Has "left door switches"?? For the early cars I don't understand what the difference would be between left and right? The door opens, the dome light turns on, just completes a circuit to ground, right?

Right. The left side has provisions for the "key in slot" buzzer, while the right side does not.

That said, I think you could probably use the left side on the right and clip that unused wire off. Haven't looked at the diagram, but confident that would work.

Right - the passenger side is just for the light so it only has 2 wires, the drivers side has 4 (2 for the light and 2 for the buzzer)

@Patcon And back to the grommets... I don't think the early 240's had that grommet you pictured. I think it was just a chrome button "surround" like a washer with the plastic switch poking through. Pictures of the switch.

I think I've seen that metal bezel you're talking about. But on my 77 I had these rubber pieces that have about a quarter inch long studs on the back to go into the door well holes. I think I will hunt for a cast and mold system. I've been looking for these for a long time.
