September 2, 20195 yr Author comment_583153 I did read the info you guys gave me. Some say they came from the factory with it and many say they don't and it was just a dealer option ? And the 240Z and later 260/280Z have different splash pans ? I just want to know if they came from the factory with that splash pan ( 240Z ) ?Ā if not, then I don't want it either... I'm sure the dutch/euro version of the 240z came with the stone guard..Ā They lasted not very long in our weatherā¦. and were thrown away. Ā My very Original 280zx 1979 has one to! Ā (still in my cellar/parts shop hahaha⦠  I got an Original stone guard plate for you if you want one ā¦..Ā so you can now get a supporter of my restorationĀ ? Hi , I donāt know much of it , as far as I understand is Fairlady-Z Ā ( Japanese model Ā Ā ) series always have it . Not an optional item , it is a mandatory item for Fairlady-Z series even 240ZG . For export Ā model , I donāt know. But except very early prototype used as an example for the service manualĀ and 1973 model year car Ā ( maybe at or later Aug 1972 ) in the US , they donāt have it . Please note the early one does not have holes like you see them on later one shown in the picture . September 2, 20195 yr comment_583161 My 69,??? vin 1972 did not have one. My '77 has one.Ā I want one for my 240 though as they seal up a little better the engine bay, pulling most of the air through the radiator. I think it would run cooler with one. My opinion only... September 2, 20195 yr Popular Post comment_583164 The splash pan may help with engine compartment temperatures, but I can testify from personal experience in Zilver that it helps keep the front end from floating at high speed. I believe it helps reduce turbulence (engine and firewall) in the frontĀ which results in decreased up-lift. Once the pan was installed, at speeds of 100+Ā steering becameĀ much more stabile.
