Like someone bought a valve cover from the local Nissan dealer 35 years ago with the intent of making it a show piece or collectors item? I think.. someone bought a new engine (with the message: no oil in this one) and installed the cover of the replaced engine and now the new engine's cover was obsolete.. and has that sticker still on. Aitoku is a firm that deals in engines probably? btw. my 1979 280zx has also a yellow flaky valvecover, it's still original.. nothing done to it yet.. (if you ask me these were coated with some blank paint) Edited October 22, 20204 yr by dutchzcarguy Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/62990-stock-valve-cover-finish/?&page=5#findComment-608731 Share on other sites
October 22, 20204 yr comment_608737 I wonder if from factory they used a clear chromate conversion coating like clear alodine to give a small level of protection. October 22, 20204 yr comment_608740 The early 240s valve covers I've cleaned (usually with lacquer thinner) had no coating. I believe that's true of the later ones too.
