Posted November 5, 20195 yr comment_586962 Hey mates Quick question. Is there any difference between the steering column covers between years (as in will a 240 one fit on a 280)? The lower section of my 76' was left in the Arizona sun (...yea smart on my part) and deformed to the point where its unusable. Thank you Jan Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/63097-steering-column-cover/ Share on other sites
November 5, 20195 yr comment_586963 yes. 240z has wiper stalk go out at 3oclock (covering key), 280z is at 2oclock not blocking key. Lots of differences for connector and wire routing inside the housing too. November 5, 20195 yr comment_586983 That's a good pic of the wheel color we talk about, pretty definitive evidence but mine is darker said the defense. November 6, 20195 yr comment_586985 I know there are least four different column covers. 2 240, 2 for the 280. The 240 ones are interchangable with careful wire tucking inside The 77-78 is viturally huge compared to the 74=76 version to allow lots of room for larger connectors on the wiring harness inside. November 6, 20195 yr comment_586990 @Pomorza, I tried to adapt a 280 cover to fit a 240 and it looks terrible so I have bought the proper cover. I don't think I had to modify the lower cover at all but I'll check. You are welcome to the 280 lower cover which I think is in very good condition, you pay the postage and I'll ship it to you. November 6, 20195 yr comment_587071 No I didn't modify it in any way, the only real flaw is the broken top for one of the screws. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/63097-steering-column-cover/#findComment-587071 Share on other sites

Mate that looks fine, I can more than likely fix that.
