March 15, 20205 yr comment_594413 Mine gets 75 mph at around 2,000 2,200 rpm. I hardly ever use 5th gear. That's the B transmission all the early 5 speeds are. They're tough! March 15, 20205 yr comment_594415 My 5sp in my 240 is from a 2+2 zx. It's the older B. Not Borg Warner. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/63127-l28-full-rebuild-assembly/?&page=22#findComment-594415 Share on other sites

They are coming up differently when I’m searching for the part online. 2+2's came with the smaller R180, I believe. Don't get an R180. If you can find an 87-89 (?) 300ZX Turbo it might have the CLSD R200 that is a direct bolt-in swap. March 15, 20205 yr comment_594418 Ooops! Sorry about that, mine is a 180 in the 240. I read that post too fast. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/63127-l28-full-rebuild-assembly/?&page=22#findComment-594418 Share on other sites

It should have a finned cover and both wheels will turn in the same direction. Always buy the half shafts with the diff! The 80 5 speed might have the .773 overdrive which makes 5th feel like it belongs right after 4th, instead of being way out there. Just complicating your decision... 3.9 x 3.062 = 11.94 3.54 x 3.321 = 11.75 This are the options you have to choose from. I called the guy and he said the computer shows different differentials for the 2 and 4 seater and both are R200. Could be an error. March 16, 20205 yr comment_594429 I believe all of those are R200 cars Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/63127-l28-full-rebuild-assembly/?&page=22#findComment-594429 Share on other sites
March 16, 20205 yr comment_594430 All of the NA MT's should be 3.9. But, the FSM is not always right. Just check your ratios before buying. They're stamped on the ring gear. You'll want to pull the cover anyway to look for damage. Might also be that they are including the type of axle in the part number. The 2+2 83's came with CV shafts. So, if they removed the CV's the diff will be "empty" of axles. Social isolation sucks. So I think the later ZX transmission with the stock ZX differential is the route I’m going to go with. Of course I’ll look at the 300zx differentials with the slight chance the unicorn LSD is in this lot. There are at least six 300zx’s in there, So before I left for this work trip my refurbished injectors came back from Motor Man, they look really good, actually new. The only thing I don’t like it the clamps he used. I’ll upgrade the to stainless injector clamps. March 17, 20205 yr Author Popular Post comment_594551 Hey, I wanted to make a comment to the collective members of this forum. Sitting here trapped in my hotel in Panama....reading lots of post and questions from here and other Z forums I see a trend. The people that frequent this place tend to be very interested in helping others get these cars back where they belong....on the road to be enjoyed. Some other Z forums out there have some really harsh, condescending, self-serving members that quite frankly push people away. They don’t want to be bothered by people’s questions and admonish them for not spending hours researching a topic. It’s strikingly different in the people here. I honestly probably would have not taken on this endeavor if it hadn’t been the great people on here. The help I’ve gotten here can’t be more appreciated. I hope that I can pay it forward. I will continue to be a junkyard rat because its fun to do when I layover in various cities. A bad day in the yard is better than a good day at work. I will continue to help you all that can’t find parts you need. I’ll alway just charge you what it cost me to buy and deliver the part. My labor and risking life and limb in snake infested tall grass is free. Some if you have built up a nice beer fund. Not sure I’ll be able to afford ZCON with all this beer I’m in debt for. Thanks again [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/63127-l28-full-rebuild-assembly/?&page=22#findComment-594551 Share on other sites
March 17, 20205 yr comment_594553 Maybe we should have a "Mr Nasty" sub-forum where the requirement is to be offensive in your post. It would be funny for non-members to stumble across the content while browsing.
