Megazip is one of the companies I tried. Amayama was another Japanese company, again, No dice. Nissan parts deal indicates its discontinued. I took that as NLA.

How do the shofter forks go bad?

There's not one in that Canadian parts hoard y'all got?

Look at post #9.  They can wear out.  Too much hard shofting maybe.

Thanks for locating that.

In the case of the shifter fork pictured, why can't the lost material be added back? Are they hardened? Some other reason? Just thinking out loud...

It probably could, on the steel forks.  It would take some precise machining I think to grind the new surfaces flat and parallel.

On topic,

why not weld the old fork? Steel or aluminum (aluminium also  ? ) i weld both…  This week i learnt how to weld with copper/silicium with a MIG... yeah!  still learning new tricks!!  (it is a colder weld! within days i will show some welds in my thread: restoring a 280zx slick roof.)

As I will upgrade my Z to a 5-speed one day, and likely won't be able to afford a rebuilt unit, I'm glad this thread exists.  I've rebuilt a toploader before.  So far, this doesn't look significantly more difficult, provided one can find parts.

If the fork isn't broken from hard shifting, "abby normal", premature wear usually comes from resting one's hand on the shifter while driving.

that what i thought to, leaning and holding on to the shifter in 2nd...  wears out the fork..
