Ferrari 328 Engine swap?

Only 3 days left on that auction.  I don't know, I've heard horror stories about Ferrari engines.  It would be an interesting project though, for the right person.

The only experience I have had with Ferrari is driving my brother-in-laws Dino in 1973 or 74. Beautiful sound!

Sorry to throw cold water on this idea, but the Ferrari 328 is a mid-engine design with the engine set 90 degrees relative to the front / rear centerline of the car.

You would need to totally reengineer the placement in the engine bay. That would be hard enough, but what are you going to do for a transmission? In the Ferrari 328 the transmission is set beside the engine, behind the cockpit. It would be easier and better in every way to just save your money up for a 328. They are not expensive, as Ferraris go, and would handle, go, stop better too.

Easy:

Remove dash and put the seat forward.

Reposition firewall forward.

Put engine where seat was.

I don't really want the Ferrari V8 but I would like to have a flat plane V8 crank and the necessary cam shafts to make a Chevy 350 or a Ford 302 sound like the Ferrari. It's the flat plane crank that gives it that sound. Would have to custom engineer the crank but the cams would be the biggest issue.

Hhmmmm, who do I know with a lathe???

I did some other reading on some techy engineer site about secondary vibration. Apparently the Ferrari's run a balancing shaft in their engines. I also believe they keep the stroke on the short side to limit vibration. It's evidently akin to 2 four cylinder engines bolted together but it revs better because of the lighter crankshaft

Ford has been using flat plane cranks in the 5.2L Mustang GT350 since 2015:

A unique sound, for sure.  I doubt the DOHC engine would fit in a Z, however.
