Guys,

     my car is in the process of getting most of the interior parts reinstalled in the vehicle.  When i purchased it, the interior was basically stripped and i have been piecing it back together. MY question is which piece should i have in the location directly in front of the shiftier.

Like this no?  i have the cigarette lighter in the dash.  I didn't believe there was two 12v ports.

ive searched pics but there is a lot of discrepancies on the inner webs with cars and titles

Interesting, maybe someone swapped dashes? Do your vins match everywhere. My interior is set up like the pics here:

maybe your on to something.  What goes in the hole circled red?

In the early Z's nothing went there, it was a blank.

My 4/71 Z which I've owned since new has the ash tray and lighter in the center console like the one pictured above.  No lighter in the dash.  You likely have a replacement dash from a later Z.

i think i got it.  the below pic is where i need to be.  What is the top switch suppose to do circled below:

Up to 8.71 the console with the ashtray was installed in the 240z.

After that was the other console version with the switch plate.

Another way to be absolutely sure: whatever one fits in your vehicle as they are not interchangeable.

I think someone added that, as I'm not aware of any Z from the factory having two switches there. It's normally either a blank, or a cig lighter. I believe only 72-73 Zs had the cog lighter, and your '71 should have had a blank.
