I looked at a '70 240Z today and it seems to be in pretty good condition. Below is a summary of what I found and would like to know what you here think is a fair price for the car.

- appears to be original orange paint, badly in need of repainting

- rearend clunks when shifting (problem unknow)

- breaks are firm

- pass side floorpan and rail under it have minor rust (maybe repair but replace would probably be better)

- rust under battery tray (appears to only be surface rust but was hard to tell with the battery tray still in the car)

- leaky rear hatch, spare tire well was full of water from this morning's rain, but metal is solid and no signs of rust there...yet

- driver's seat needs recovered

- wiring/electrical has been 'modified' and should probably be completely gone through

- A/C compressor belt missing so I do not know if the A/C works or not, the seller said it does

- registration expired in Feb of this year, owner still drives it though

- front carpet missing from both driver and pass side (floor mats only)

- cracked dash (gee what a suprise)

- interior plastic trim is in fair condition, only one appeared to need replaced

- diff leak

- possible rear main seal leak (leak appears to be where engine and tranny meet)

- hood may have been replaced or just repainted, it's not oxidized the way the rest of the car is

- gear shift is very loose, the shift plate may be shattered (or what ever the piece is that restricts the stick movement to it's H format)

- VIN: HLS30-08215

That's everything I got so what do you think???

I'd wager a guesstimate of anywhere from 1500 up to 4K. It all depends on how much will have to be replaced, as compared to repaired.

Hard to tell with no pics, but, since it's a 70 with a fairly low VIN, the price is going to be a bit higher than you would expect to pay for a 72 or 73 in the same condition.

It really depends on the rust and how bad it is, and how much can be repaired simply and how much has to have panels replaced.
