COVID-19

I really feel for these guys and the incredible pressure they must experience when  facing important potentially life-altering decisions.

What will Mitch do?  Should he follow Ben's example or stay the course?  Mask?  No masks?  It's only a few seconds...   I'll just hold my breath...  yeah, that's it...

We'll know in a few hours.  The suspense is palpable....

Programming note: the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, will hold a photo-op with newly elected Republican senators at 4pm ET today.

Remember when "brain surgery" meant something difficult that only a smart highly trained person could do?  Wearing a face covering at an indoor event, especially at the White House, is not brain surgery.  Everything is just upside down.

Edit 1:24pm - he compromised, kind of.  I really think he's holding his breath though.  Not showing teeth, mask in hand.

If nothing else,  we already have rational comments about the virus coming from the Pres-Elect, and will soon (January) have a coordinated and consistent message from the White House. I'm sure there is a segment of the population that won't listen, but over time having a consistent message does tend to shape opinions.

I'm sure there is a segment of the population that won't listen, but over time having a consistent message does tend to shape opinions.

Be it corporate leadership, the army, a president, or me as a parent speaking to my children, humans like consistency in messaging and what is familiar. When reenforced consistently, it becomes the new familiar.

There are always rebels / belligerent / bigoted or ignorant people anywhere, but at least there is now going to be a president who seeks to unite. Let’s hope enough politicians are able to get past party politics and work together / with him for the good of the people.

COVID-19 doesn’t care for colour, religion or political persuasion. It’s the silent invisible enemy we need to battle together.

21 hours ago, Racer X said:

Yeah, I think you live where the daughter and stepson retreat to when the hurricanes bear down on them. They load up stuff in the 5th wheel, hook up the pickup, shutter the house, tuck their tail between their legs and head inland.

I live either at the beginning or the end of the Appalachian Mountains, depends on where you standing. LOL

I like to think the beginning but s h i t does flow down so most likely the end.

Add my train of thought, where I was going with my post. There's a lot of state parks and the like up here cheap and friendly so I bet they do get close. Cornbread and grits and all that other stuff nobody admits to like. LOL

Another new web tool for assessing risk.  Haven't had a chance to dig in to it but the concept seems interesting.  Except that in the big scheme of things it might lead to the unintended consequence of driving people to the areas that are/were low-risk.  Possibly carrying virus to the uncontaminated areas.  Who knows.  Probably also gives a false sense of security.  Party until the risk level rises.

I was reading about a new test they came up with that shows T cells? that was better than the previous test for antibodies. I, and a lot of other folks apparently, was horribly sick in February with what my doctor said was an upper respiratory infection at the time. Now I think it may have been some type of covid as do others. I'm anxious to get the new test done to see if I have built up immunities.
