April 19, 20204 yr comment_597458 ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh how strange i literally just did this a couple hours ago. There is a m3 bolt near the steering wheel, and an m4 bolt at the underside of the key tumbler. I think i used some small #6 screws for the 4 other ones that go into the plastic. I did not torque them down all the way, i was scared it was going to ruin the plastic on the other side. For the m3/m4 i had to use a washer to get it to hold to the plastic. I should have done it months ago, it looks great. I used some zip ties to hold the wires to the steering wheel column. April 19, 20204 yr Author comment_597466 This is great! Do you think the #6 were 1” machine screws?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/63865-280z-clamshell-screws/#findComment-597466 Share on other sites
April 19, 20204 yr comment_597469 it seemed to be a bit more coarse than a machine screw would be. I stand corrected, based on https://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-information/machine-screws/machine-screw-diameter.aspx I was using a #8 screw. overall height is 0.6" diameter is 0.165" length is ~0.5" Edited April 19, 20204 yr by heyitsrama Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/63865-280z-clamshell-screws/#findComment-597469 Share on other sites

April 19, 20204 yr Author comment_597513 Ok I went with #8x5/8” pan head Phillips and it comes out enough at the end to fully engage without any worries and is snug when tightening Case closed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/63865-280z-clamshell-screws/#findComment-597513 Share on other sites
