Some numbers are higher, lower, at an angle, etc., on the early cars. December 11, 20204 yr comment_612351 Here's some examples. Looks like Nissan had their stamping act together by the late 70's. Make sure the upper rivets touche the top of the N and D, and don't overlook the little 1 (edit - I found one with a 6. A new puzzle) in the bottom right corner. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-datsun-280z-7/ https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-datsun-280z-7/ This one has a 6 though. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-datsun-280z-47/ Edited December 11, 20204 yr by Zed Head Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64178-reproduction-engine-id-vin-number-plate/?&page=3#findComment-612351 Share on other sites

December 11, 20204 yr comment_612358 Here is a picture of the tag from the engine bay of my 7/70. The numbers measure 3.5mm in height and are stamped evenly spaced and at a slight angle. February 5, 20232 yr comment_650045 I'm not sure what the original finish was on these screws Rivet is basically a 3/32 rivet. The box I have of them is unmarked Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64178-reproduction-engine-id-vin-number-plate/?&page=3#findComment-650045 Share on other sites

February 6, 20232 yr comment_650051 The screw finish is clear zinc. You need to measure the diameter of the shank. Should be 3mm. Just slightly smaller than 1/8".
