Just curious to what drivability issues come along with a failing fuel pump?
The mechanical fuel pumps have been around for a long time, and I know some leak oil.

But what type of problems creep in with a bad fuel pump when driving?

Thanks
Bob

I would try a long steep road to see if it starts to cut out. You can always turn around and get back down. I went ahead and replaced the original on the last 240 I bought, don't like having car trouble on the side of the road.

If it runs low of fuel going uphill the front carb will dry up first and then you're driving a 3 cylinder.

He could have gasket issue from the pump to the head causing a small amount of motor oil leakage but if the OE pumps have oil in them I learned something new today. Thank you 26thZ.

Well, they are open to the front cover... They're bound to get some oil in there thrown off the chain and cam gear / eccentric over the course of time. Not under pressure, so something would really have to be wrong to leak oil I would think.

Mine leaks at the pin for the rocker arm. Just a very small leak, but it makes a hell of a mess over time if I don't wipe it up on a regular basis. To bad that pin is not serviceable.?
