Posted June 3, 200321 yr comment_39552 I have a rear sway bar from a 78 280Z 2+2 That I want to put on my 1972 240Z, however I do not have the factory mounting brackets that seem to be found on some 72-73 240s... I have a 73 Parts car that has the brackets on it, is there a way to cut those off, and weld them on my 72? Or is there an aftermarket bracket kit that is available? thanks.dave. June 3, 200321 yr comment_39571 IIRC the mounts are just spot welded onto the floor pan. If you get a good spot weld cutter you should be able to remover them fairly easily. Plus you'll have a hole to weld them back on the other car already. You might find a weld on either side, but you can just take that off with a grinder.I'm not sure if the 280 bar will work, seems to me like they are bent differently. It might work.. but I'm not 100% sure.... June 3, 200321 yr comment_39595 Sorry the sway bar will not work. I just went through the same thing only my '73 has the brackets. The sway bar that will work is from a early '74. the 280 bar is stright and will not clear the diff, the bar from the early 260 has a bend in it so it well clear. I have heard that there is an aftermarket unit that will work but havent seen one. If you weld on the 73 brackets then look for a vary early '74 . good luck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6433-72-240-mounting-rear-sway-bar-s/#findComment-39595 Share on other sites
