Posted August 19, 20204 yr comment_604473 I found this video tonight and thought it was interesting. This guy is using a shop vac to blow air into the tank and another hose to pull the fuel out. And he was using a 73 Z for the video. ? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64360-siphoning-gas/ Share on other sites
August 19, 20204 yr comment_604495 Seems easier to just get a Harbor Freight hand pump and throw it out when you’re done... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64360-siphoning-gas/#findComment-604495 Share on other sites
August 19, 20204 yr comment_604501 When I was a teenager, all it took was a section of garden hose, a moonless night and a dependable lookout to get the job done. Oklahoma credit card. No offense to Oklahomans, that's just how I learned it. It's probably wrong... August 19, 20204 yr Author comment_604506 Oh, I've tried the garden hose method... that first bit of fuel is great for preventing gingivitis. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64360-siphoning-gas/#findComment-604506 Share on other sites
August 19, 20204 yr comment_604507 Use clear hose. You see it before it gets in your mouth. We had a fuel tank on a trailer for boat gas we could take to a gas station and fill up. Much cheaper than buying it on the river. August 19, 20204 yr comment_604524 But isn't the Z the most excellent automobile from which to siphon gas? There's hardly another that gives you such quick and trouble-free access! (As a side note - I have to emissions check my 260Z every year here in the Phoenix area. The twits at the emissions station have NO WAY to check my gas cap. I love seeing them take it off, scratch their heads, shrug their shoulders, put it back on, and PASS the gas cap because they can't test it! You have to take joy in life where you can find it...) August 20, 20204 yr comment_604573 Gas in the early 70's was not that bad tasting, at least as I remember it. Once they started putting all the nasty anti smog crap in it no way would I put it into my mouth. August 26, 20204 yr comment_604839 I have had good luck with the super siphon, just a few shakes and you have the gas flowing. https://www.amazon.com/Safety-Siphon-Safe-Multi-Purpose-Priming/dp/B000BG1X54/ref=pd_lpo_263_t_2/138-8540619-7869844?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000BG1X54&pd_rd_r=a9934f55-dff8-4208-9adb-6dad173d8582&pd_rd_w=sNOzJ&pd_rd_wg=KweD3&pf_rd_p=7b36d496-f366-4631-94d3-61b87b52511b&pf_rd_r=NNZESE92S9J85TBXHZV3&psc=1&refRID=NNZESE92S9J85TBXHZV3 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64360-siphoning-gas/#findComment-604839 Share on other sites
