I Need Help NOW! PLEEEEEEAZE!

Sorry if this doesn't seem to quite fit anyone's idea of an emergency, but my purchase of a Z is falling through. :( The guy who agreed to sell me the 78 280z 2+2 for $600 was told by a gentleman in the next town who is selling his restored 73 for $8000 that the car I'm trying to purchase may be special.

So, what I'd like all you Z buffs to do is refer to the pictures I posted on another thread (http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6739)and reply as to whether or not the car is worth thousands more.

I need as many replies as possible by tomorrow. I'm not a rich man but have elbow grease to spare and want something that I can eventually be proud of. Thanks.

What is so special about it? The only "special" model of 280 was the Black Pearl edition..they were offered in the 2+2's if I remember right, but I would highly doubt this is one of them... unless it was black originally that is.....:ermm:

Maybe this other fellow ought to try to get 8K for his 73 before he tries to tell others that theirs are worthmore than they think....:ermm:

He might get a surprise if his is not sold...besides, is is restored? This one needs quite a bit or work? So he thinks what?:cross-eye

Your second picture shows significant rust behind the wheel well, just barely forward of the rocker panel. With that much rust visable to the outside, I'd bet your going to be needing to replace the rocker panels and more on this puppy.

As for value, and wether it is a "Black Pearl Edition", get the VIN of the car and check ZHome.com to see if it is one of those cars. Otherwise I think it's just a 280Z 2+2, and nothing special at all. A Typical Rust Belt car from my CA eyes.

looking at the pics of the car with the outer panel rust, and concidering the location, it looks to have battery tray rust, fire wall rust and more the likely frame rail rust and floor pan rust.

umm what does he think he has, a mint condition 280Z.

in my eyes this car is worth about 500 usd if it runs

I guess it's back to the drawing board. I pulled as much info off the net as I could about market value on the Z and he's still thinking he's sitting on a gold mine. Should've gotten all the financial/title/receipt business out of the way the day we "shook hands." At least he's willing to reimburse me for the repairs and parts. How much should I charge him for labor?:devious:

By the time he realizes his mistake, you should be able to find a much nicer car and then you can thumb your nose at him when he tries to get you to come back and by this one.....:devious:

There's too many cars still available to buy one that needs as much as this one... they might cost a bit more to begin with, but you'll still have some things to tinker with and in the long run you'll be further ahead...:ermm:

Stop Feeling like super man and be superman and buy a 2 seater!!!!!ROFL

J/K Really you'll find a better Z. The less rust the better and cheaper to restore.

Just replacing floorpans some people say it cost $1000!! Rust is what seperates a parts car from a restoration canidate.
