I have relatives in Colfax and fires there have threatened two of their homes and the farmhouse which supports their operation. In one case flames were within about 40 feet of buildings, but in all cases they are OK.  One of the fires was in Colfax on the west side of town; the other fires included the one that took out the covered bridge, which is within 2 miles of the farm, in the same canyon.

Info from them is sporadic because the power has been out in much of Colfax and all the residences except the farmhouse - and it's in a location where you have to climb about 300 feet up to a hilltop to get cell phone connectivity.

Welp here we go in my part of this. Winds are high and gusting, rain for 24hr supposedly. Only wish I could send some @Mark Maras and @Zed Head way.

Site, I was thinking of you earlier today when I saw the map. Hold on tight and be ready to get to higher ground!!     :excl:

Visibility is still around 1/4 mile here. We're supposed to get some relief from it in a day to a day and a half and then a bit of rain that should clear more smoke out. Until then, it's N95s.

I should have gone to meteorologist school.  LOL

It's beatiful here today! Thankfully it took a sharp turn to the east and petered out. We got some rain last night but nothing like the predictions were. Good for our friends at ZCON too.

Great news, the rain cleared most of the smoke out. Kinda weird to see Portlanders celebrating rain though. It may be a once in a lifetime event.

That's awesome. I was watching the news and they mentioned a line of rain that went through the PNW.

Is everything still on fire, or did the rain help with that too?
