siteunseen Posted October 6, 2020 Share #49 Posted October 6, 2020 Your bowls look shallow to me, kinda hard to tell looking at the photos though. They should be about half full. Even with the top of the square in this pic, green arrow pointing down to 23 mm red line.

rosaaen89 Posted October 6, 2020 Author Share #51 Posted October 6, 2020 they were probably both a bit below half i’d say about 35-40% full. would i just turn the adjustment knobs on both equally maybe 1/2-1 more turn? i’m currently waiting for new fuel pump i ordered should be in tomorrow. idk if the pump is bad but there was a decent amount of oil in the fuel pump when o pulled it off
rosaaen89 Posted October 6, 2020 Author Share #52 Posted October 6, 2020 or do i adjust the float bowl a bit ? i’m still a little unsure on how to measure the float. do you measure from the bottom of the lid where the gasket sits until the metal tab is pressing up on the the jet? siteunseen Posted October 6, 2020 Share #53 Posted October 6, 2020 I will admit I've never tried adjusting the levels with the knobs but I suppose you could? It's lower though, counterclockwise towards the fenders to drop the nozzles adding more fuel. You say "on" maybe that meant out?

siteunseen Posted October 6, 2020 Share #55 Posted October 6, 2020 This is a lot of reading but you'll be a pro when you read it all. https://www.google.com/search?q=240z+float+levels+classiczcars.com&rlz=1C1BOFA_enUS494US494&oq=240z+float+levels+classiczcars.com&aqs=chrome..69i57.12013j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
AK260 Posted October 7, 2020 Share #56 Posted October 7, 2020 they were probably both a bit below half i’d say about 35-40% full. would i just turn the adjustment knobs on both equally maybe 1/2-1 more turn? Don’t even!!!! What you are doing is widening or narrowing the annulus area of the jet by doing that and using different parts of the needle. Do it right and do it once! Otherwise you will waste a lot of time chasing your tail. Ask me how I know. The float adjustment being right is mega important on these carbs.
siteunseen Posted October 7, 2020 Share #57 Posted October 7, 2020 Here's the dead giveaway I've seen most often. The metal tang on top of the floats are bent up like a ramp and they shouldn't be. The higher up the less fuel, the needles get pushed in too soon cutting the flow. Here are some pictures I found that will help. This is what you do not want, This is what they look like new so you want them close to this, I say they should look like a speed bump, not a ramp. The needle should be able to move smoothly over the tang up and down like a speed bump.
