If he doesn't leave the nozzles dropped, chokes on. I learned that the hard not to smell fuel in my upstairs apartment way. I moved my 240s around and left the chokes pulled back. Bad, bad choice. My garage apartment was a gas fumed bomb.

Another good question, the only leak I have in the fuel system is an air breather hole, very small that I drilled in the gas cap to equalize pressure. Now that you have mentioned it I think I will take a razor blade and cut a small slit in the wrap right at the top of the gas filler door.

You can add a velcro seam as well, that's what we do with our boats here in Vancouver, crack it every so often to keep the air moving.  Great idea to wrap the car!
