Yes, that is indeed original carpet under the tiger print. I suspect that the original padding/jute is also present by the dip in the carpet just forward of the luggage strap bracket. No padding used in that last couple of inches - 70/early 71 owners please take note.

Here we go again. Another one family, low mile 70.

Immediately jumped to $15,000..

Very nice Z, should do well. 25k miles is rare. Floor pans look great. Odd that they didn’t go with original fuel lines, pump, etc.

Thought the air cleaner was on earlier models, my Z is also a 12/70 build but has the later “summer/winter flap?

How much "provenance" does it being a one-family car bestow?  Mine is higher mileage than the one above, but I have wondered...

Nice ! My 03/70 240Z has the same jute on the rear deck ( pictured one happened to come apart when I tried to take off ) .

Actually the early jute was divided into three pieces, there are separate pieces in front of the left and right speakers . This is true for all S30 series which are early models except Z432-R . Also except Fairlady Z (basic model ) and export 1969 cars maybe ?

I have a roll of the exact jute from the manufacturer , I need to dye it with brown liquid. So far no idea what the liquid would be .

Not sure about the air box configuration.

I went back and took a closer look. The car was stored for a long time, looks like from the late 1980s to around 2000 or so. Interesting how the OEM exhaust was removed, and a header, etc installed. The header looks old and rusty, the rest somewhat newish.

After going over the listing again, I don’t see this car going for the large money the one family Z from New England (the guy was a dealer, kept the car and barely used it) that went for something close to $150,000.

That is the 64 dollar question, eh?

What happened during that period, how the car was looked after, how it was stored, the manner in which it was refurbished.

I also noticed the listing has a receipt showing the car had magnesium Mini Lite wheels, then later one for the wheels it has now.

The original paperwork makes it look like the car was updated by the dealer with some go fast parts, but I don’t see any of them, on the car or in the pile of removed stuff.

Hi Katz,

Is the jute you have a roll of still available from the manufacturer?  I'd like to source some.  I am able to source this jute from a British car specialty shop (the CUF1/J - Underfelt), named the Roadster Factory, but it is a bit different.  It is not as thick and would also have to be dyed brown.

Instances of people feeling the need to coin the term "Series 1.5" only serve to demonstrate what a confected nonsense the whole "Series 1", "Series 2" thing is.

The Series is S30

I might just as well quote myself for every Bring A Trailer S30-series Z auction, because the same sticky swamp of 'Series' and 'Model Year' conflation and claptrap comes up every time.

Sure enough, on the regular, it rears its ugly mug on the 919 12/70 HLS30UV auction currently running.
