This car used to be part of the 'Larry Steppe' collection which seemed to be in some sort of curious arrangement of elastic ownership with 'The 240Z Guild'. I note 'The 240Z Guild' has said that the car changed hands before this BAT auction, but I'd take that with a very large pinch of Sodium Chloride. 

What a munter it is. The overfenders appear to have been fitted in the dark and George Foreman probably doesn't want that dinky little grill(e) back now. Had a chuckle at the tall claim that the 'G' nose on the car was sourced from a Japanese police car, although plenty of people will probably swallow that one whole.    

Is it really necessary to trash other people's car's on here. It's one thing to question if things are done correctly or not but outright criticism is really bad manners.

There's plenty of room on here for both objective and subjective criticism of cars that are up for sale. This thread - in case you hadn't noticed - is full of it. 

If you're embarking on any kind of crusade to clean up our little corner of the classic car scene, I'd suggest you might like to start with the likes of this Larry Steppe character and his chum 'The 240Z Guild'.

We now have 'The 240Z Guild' calling the Grande Nose on this car a "Police Package" (LOL) and claiming that the aircon-related diverter ducts are "brake ducts" (they are nowhere near the brakes and they push air through the radiator and aircon condenser).

Objective - and clearly correct - critique of the overfender mounting positions has been rejected as 'Non Constructive'. Clowns to the left, jokers to the right. None so blind as those who will not see.

This one looks very original and unmolested.  I note what appears to be original front carpets, original radio, most of the hose clamps in the engine bay are original, and an original rear muffler.  73k original miles claimed.  Nothing in the description about the engine or chassis numbers matching the door tag yet.  

Worth $25k right now?

I got curious after reading about The 240Z Guild, and the police car thing, and other stuff on the internet, so started looking at the pictures.

Could somebody else describe what they see in the three screen grabs below?  I'd like to verify.  BaT should know, if I am correct.  Picture #150 is the firewall stamping.

Reminds of when I was a kid in the sketchy wrecking yard looking at a 10 bolt chevy rear end.  The yard guy said "yep there is is, a 12 bolt rear end".  I didn't even count the bolts until I had it home.  Used it anyway but felt like a dummy.  That story only makes sense if you're an old GM muscle car person.

A 1972 sold for $25,500.00 on BAT - in better shape - although it is an A/T.  This 71 is going to need a repaint and new Dash, seats etc. etc... In todays market I'd say this 71 should be closer to the  $18K to $20K range.   18 months ago it would have been snapped up at $25K... not today...

 Well, this is odd.  The picture that I pasted looks like 604 to me.   But now I see another picture of the firewall that looks like a 402.  Picture 150 versus picture 163.  Must have got their pictures mixed up.  There's a 604 and a 402
