Johnz1971 Posted July 30 Share #2677 Posted July 30 I think we are also missing one of the comments by the seller that was flagged as "not constructive". That missing comment might have something to do with the reply by craZee "i knew this auction was going to be weird when the seller wrote that he “raised the reserve”. Uh no. You don’t have that option." My guess is that he changed his mind about the 25k reserve.
Zed Head Posted July 30 Author Share #2678 Posted July 30 (edited) I looked around on BaT's web site but couldn't find a copy of the Seller's agreement. They should just post the full document on the site so everybody can see how things work. I assume that it shows up after they get all of your information. It's hidden to everyone else, apparently. Edit - I filled out the first page then hit Next. It just took me to another page that wanted even more info. You have to get all the way through before you know what the terms are. A pain. Zed Head Posted July 30 Author Share #2679 Posted July 30 (edited) And if you click on the Fees link, it's dead. Edit - actually it's half-dead. You have to scroll down there yourself. But still nothing about withdrawing or changing your mind or penalties if you renege on the final sale. https://bringatrailer.com/how-bat-works/#seller-fees How Our Fees Work Sellers pay a $99 listing fee, with the option to add our Plus photo service for an additional $330. There are no other seller fees on BaT. Buyers pay a 5% fee on top of the final sale price to BaT, with a minimum of $250, and capped at $7,500. Contact us for pricing of our White Glove Service. Zed Head Posted August 3 Author Share #2680 Posted August 3 I think this low miles 76 might have slipped by when nobody was looking. $67,000. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-datsun-280z-88/

If your auction is marked as sold, we expect you to follow through and complete the transaction. Speaking of which, I noted this R32 GTR was listed CarSales in Australia for $130k+. It dropped to $99k or so before being removed from the website, the URL now returns a 404. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/1990-nissan-skyline-gt-r-r32-manual-4wd/SSE-AD-16397618/?Cr=0 It was also on Facebook under the name of Peter Yannopoulos After failing to sell locally the seller tried BAT hoping for a cashed up US buyer presumably? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1990-nissan-skyline-gt-r-45/ It apparently sold on BAT for $50,500 USD on 3/5/24 to user TopGun1 - https://bringatrailer.com/member/topgun1/ However it's been back on Facebook for a few months now under a different seller name (original seller name from memory was Peter) - (still hoping for $130k AUD) https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/991650708967280/ I know it's not an S30Z, but the reason I share it is that it appears the seller was the 1 who reneged on the sale (not buyer), unhappy with the price achieved in the BAT auction. Despite it being listed with no apparent reserve on BAT. I think the seller was hoping that would drive aggressive bidding. I don't know what the top bidder thinks of this, but it also shows that despite the deal falling over, BAT still shows the vehicle as having been sold, the seller has not honoured the achieved price on BAT. I don't blame the seller for feeling the car was worth more, but they should never have agreed to a no reserve auction if that was the case. So I personally don't trust a lot of these auction sites and buying via them. Too many shenanigans going on and dishonest sellers for my liking.
Zed Head Posted August 8 Author Share #2682 Posted August 8 How do you know the BaT sale didn't go through? The Facebook listing is after the BaT listing. Maybe Gindy is TopGun1. 15 weeks ago is about April 24. The BaT sale was on March 5. I might be missing the point...

The seller briefly relisted it on the Australian sites again before it was de-listed by the current seller. I think seller has invested too much in it and isn't willing to accept the loss personally. Fair enough, but still find it to be poor sportsmanship.
Zed Head Posted August 12 Author Share #2684 Posted August 12 Here's an interesting one where BaT relisted a car and said that the previous high bidder did not follow through, but they still show the car as sold on the first listing. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-pontiac-firebird-74-2/#comments-anchor This is a relist after the vehicle was previously sold on BaT in July 2024 and the winning bidder failed to follow through with their commitment to purchase. This was not due to any fault with the vehicle. The winner’s participation on BaT has been restricted.
zspert Posted August 12 Share #2685 Posted August 12 The market is soft, very soft. Let's see where the bidding falls on the blue with white 240 currently on BAT. Sorry but nothing to do with your astute observation Zed Head 1

There should be some good deals out there.
