I don't think they did a good job.. the damper is to long and had to be installed on a angle and... and.. now it hits the bottom of the car.. (at least it looks like it's on a angle?) Does the exhaust not make a clunking noise against the reserve wheel thingy... whatever it's called.. ? 🙄 Your car has become a beautyful car and now there is a crummy exhaust under there..(sorry again but i took a day and ask myself if i had to say this and yes...... i sayd it.. 🙊) Fisheye lens has the rear muffler angle distorted, was the only way I could capture the whole system under the lift. In "normal" perspective, it is perfectly parallel to the chassis. Muffler is also an excellent copy of the original, in OD and length. Reverse wheel thingy - perhaps the spare wheel well? There's a good 3/4" - 1" gap between the muffler and spare wheel well. No hard contacts at all. O Well anyway... your totally happy with it and thats the important thing! It has become a beautiful car! November 17, 20213 yr Author comment_631686 Some of the last details getting wrapped up. AC system charged up and working nicely. Also working on getting the rest of the stickers installed and a window sticker made up for the car. Don’t worry, I work with several people where Dutch is their first language. You guys have it all twisted up! 😁 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64674-restoration-of-hls30-12070/?&page=19#findComment-631704 Share on other sites
November 20, 20213 yr Author comment_631893 One of the last details for the front end, replicating the factory paint markings. Last will be the tie rods once we get an alignment. Pretty cool to have it move under its own power after being dormant for 31 years. Feels very crisp and tight. Got all but the transmission diamond vinyl installed, and headliner. Ill get some photos of that. I did remember to snap a picture of the jute material for the transmission tunnel. Was able to use the originals as a template to make two new pieces. Tires also mounted to the original steelies, I need to get a full vehicle shot with them. I think I would stain, paint or use some other method to color the juke to match the original color. The only thing that stands out as missing the original look. Just my two cents worth. Curious how much 50 years of living under carpet and vinyl affected the color of it. Similar to how nearly every plastic piece turns yellow or opaque on these cars over time. November 21, 20213 yr comment_631971 As to original color……I think the original color was probably about the same as what it is today……should be fairly easy to dye or spray to match. You did a beautiful job of cutting your replacement. If it were the color of the original jute, it would fit right in with all the other items that you have brought back to original status. Now, put a set of 7 inch Panasports, a front and a rear spoiler and a noisy exhaust system and go drive it! A really nice resoration….congrats!! Yes, once the professional photos and videos are complete I’ll work on the listing. Most likely I’ll be going with BaT, have had great success with them in the past. Always hate to see these cars go but each one funds the next build. Can’t keep them all unfortunately.
