Posted November 13, 20204 yr comment_610277 I have plans to convert my 260z to FI in the near future and need to find a solution for the coolant temp sensor. I found the following adapter which looks interesting, and seems like a decent option without having to change around the thermostat housing. Has anyone here used this for their FI conversion? https://www.amazon.ca/Mishimoto-MMWHS-34-BK-Temperature-Sensor-Adapter/dp/B00860GH8A Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64718-coolant-temp-sensor-adapter/ Share on other sites
November 13, 20204 yr comment_610278 I tried that, the adapter pissed me off esp the splicing (also looks bad). I think the lower housing for a 280z can be used, they have a couple of spots for temp senders. November 13, 20204 yr comment_610280 For my FI project, I used a 1/2 BSP to 3/8 NPT adapter on the thermostat housing. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64718-coolant-temp-sensor-adapter/#findComment-610280 Share on other sites

Interesting, this is the hose that runs through the carbs? November 13, 20204 yr comment_610283 I believe so. The line was removed, and the port in the t-stat housing was plugged prior to my purchase of the car. I did the Patton Machine fuel injection last year and found that port handy for coolant temperature sensor. November 13, 20204 yr comment_610285 I also utilized a lot of the stock wiring to integrate my signals from the ECU and its relays for power to the ECU, power to the fuel pump, etc. For the check engine light, I repurposed the choke light. November 13, 20204 yr comment_610286 What kind of fuel injection are you thinking of using? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64718-coolant-temp-sensor-adapter/#findComment-610286 Share on other sites
November 13, 20204 yr Author comment_610287 I just picked up an intake manifold from a 280z for $50. I will be taking out the old components and adding a fuel rail which I also purchased. I'm starting to collect the parts and hopefully start the project next fall. I will be using the Microsquirt for the ECU. November 13, 20204 yr comment_610292 When you're looking at how to integrate the wiring, let me know. By the way, one challenge you will face is the placement of the air intake/air filter. The 280Z core support is different from the 260Z. The 260Z does not have the opening for air intake plumbing to pass through. A friend found this out during his conversion.
