What VIN numbers were manufactured in 1969?

I found a few conflicting articles on what was the cutoff. I read where there were 500, then another said up 1100.

There were two different groups of VIN's for Datsun 240Z's produced in 1969. One for the Left Hand Drive models and another for the Right Hand Drive Models; HLS30 and HS30. Both had their own series of chassis serial numbers. Because all new cars offered for sale in the USA were required by Federal Law to have their Date Of Manufacture (DOM) affixed to the car;  the Left Hand Drive HLS30's produced in 1969 can be individually identified if their original DOM Data Tags are still on them.

It would seem that some 543 240Z'z were completed in 1969. Best guess is that 2 or 3 of them were HS30's with the remainder being HLS30's. The first 13 HLS30's were not sold to the public. Because the units were not completed in perfect serial number order, there are a few with VIN's higher than #543, that were also completed in 1969. (as shown above with #587 being completed in 12/69)

Hi Guys, thanks for the kind words and Marry Christmas wishes to you as well. I think this has been a tough year for everyone, but so far we are doing well. Mostly staying home, but did attend Jim Frederick’s Z Mecca Christmas Party earlier this month in Lutz, Florida. Great turn-out with Bob Sharp as an Honored Guest.  Florida weather co-operated with a bright sunny day.

Perhaps some confusion between S30-series total and 'Export' variants total?

Nissan Shatai's production figures for 1969 show that they made a total of 969 'Domestic' variant S30-series Zs, and 543 'Export' variant S30-series Zs. That's a grand total of 1,512 cars.

Those 543 'Export' variant S30-series cars would have had HS30 and HLS30 chassis prefixes, whilst the 969 'Domestic' variant S30-series cars would have had 'S30' and 'PS30' chassis prefixes.

As you can see, asking specifically about 'Datsun 240Z' production will only give you half the story...

This presumes that 100% of those 1969-production HLS30-prefixed cars were USA/North American market variants, which is certainly not the case. 

Even if a very small percentage of them were effectively 'European' market variants, they still deserve to be mentioned. 

Here's a photo of an HLS30-prefixed Nissan works rally test car being used in the south of France during the month of January 1970. It will - by definition - have been one of those 543 cars produced in 1969, and it wasn't a USA/North American market car:

So this article was really the reason for my post.

I understand the HLS and HS, but the header above all those VIN numbers say "So far, the following 1969 Production Year HLS30 series cars have been located:"

I'm only on my first cup of coffee, but it looks like all those numbers are HLS- regarding the author of the article. An error perhaps?

If you look at the last large column of VINs, 1776 is listed as 12/69. I'm assuming 1776 is a HS-xxxx. But I hate to assume.
