August 14, 20213 yr Author comment_626905 Thanks Dutch.Found a little rodent damage while cleaning the harness up. This is tucked into the passenger side fender area. Could be worse and I hope I don’t find much more.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65031-just-saying-hello/?&page=3#findComment-626905 Share on other sites
August 28, 20213 yr Author comment_627689 Little more playing with paint.Air box is good enough, it ended up a little “flat” looking. It think the temp and humidity was a bit too extreme. Need to compare it side by side with the top to see if I’m happy.ZX and ZXT alternator tensioner Played with cleaning up some parts for plattingSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65031-just-saying-hello/?&page=3#findComment-627689 Share on other sites

September 3, 20213 yr Author comment_627990 Decided to try and see what I could do to this wiper motor piece. It’s been stripped but seems to have another layer of platting or something that rust had eaten into.I had already started to sand the lower right side with 120.Not to shabby!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65031-just-saying-hello/?&page=3#findComment-627990 Share on other sites
September 3, 20213 yr comment_627993 Pretty, but it will need some kind of protective coating to last. Yellow zinc or something... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65031-just-saying-hello/?&page=3#findComment-627993 Share on other sites

October 10, 20213 yr Author comment_629830 I’ve got most things removed from the engine bay. Decided remove the battery mount so I can “clean” up underneath it. Just to hard to properly work on without removing it. It’s the only really rusty area in the bay. The other side has some surface rust from spilled brake fluid but is not as ugly.It looks pretty rough but all the metal seems to be solid. No holes other than what I created with my first attempt at drilling out the spot welds. Couldn’t find a decent bit. Bottom holes freed up easier with a good bit.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65031-just-saying-hello/?&page=3#findComment-629830 Share on other sites

And the cutter doesn't leave a hole in both pieces, only the part on top. This makes welding the part back on easier. October 28, 20213 yr Author comment_630575 Slow progress on platting prep but I’ll get there eventually. Some hose clamps in progressAfter some time in a vinegar bath and some brushing. Did find some small holes I the bracket and in the fender. Forgot to take a finished pics but just stripped it and put a light coat of cheap paint on to keep it till epoxy starts. One doneSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65031-just-saying-hello/?&page=3#findComment-630575 Share on other sites
