March 14, 20214 yr comment_617759 Hard to see through the rust and grime but as you say the 240Z condenser is outside the cap, and connected to the points system. Older US cars used to have them inside. Found a 240Z video that looks promising.  Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65160-waking-the-sleeping-beast-part-ii-50-years-later/?&page=5#findComment-617759 Share on other sites

March 14, 20214 yr comment_617773 So I had a look and what I said is correct, solid black wire from neg post on coil to spade on distributor. It should be along side a yellow wire that goes to the temp sensor right above the distributor. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65160-waking-the-sleeping-beast-part-ii-50-years-later/?&page=5#findComment-617773 Share on other sites
March 14, 20214 yr comment_617775 I bought an asking price $5,000 for $2,000 because of that black wire to the distributor. He mucked the car up really great without that wire. One of my all time best buys. He didn't know squat about Datsuns either. Fords only. March 14, 20214 yr Author comment_617777 OK.. to all - here is what happened = hopefully helps other starting a car after many years. 1. changed ignition coil 2. changed balast resistor 3. new plugs 4. sanded points and cleaned in distributor. put some gas in the spark plug hole and presto.. UP AND RUNNING. check water line for radiator a few mins later and the out put was dry,..  stopped motor - water pump ok/ how do you fill the cooling system? just fill up rad? backfill it? also - dash shows voltage.. does that mean alternator ok?? put new radiator in. water leaking out of arear where water returns to rad so looks like water circulating ok ran for a about 15 mins.. car warmed up a bit..     run1.MOV Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65160-waking-the-sleeping-beast-part-ii-50-years-later/?&page=5#findComment-617777 Share on other sites

March 14, 20214 yr Author comment_617789 OOOHHHH - so one carb might have issues?? no fuel??? check fuel line?? blow em out?? our gas was coming from a raised funnel like an IV tube.. not from fuel tank - so maybe gas was getting used up by first carb??  what about car not shutting off when key is turned off???? Check the exhaust manifold temperature, one end is probably cold. Front or back.
