May 5, 20213 yr comment_621106 Not sure on the ZX tank, did you check for a drain plug? Possibly right hand side. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65175-1980-280zx-10-anniversary-car-red-black/?&page=3#findComment-621106 Share on other sites
May 5, 20213 yr comment_621111 I believe 1978 was the last year for the tank drain plug. Many ways to accomplish draining the tank, a cheap siphon pump is what I would try first. https://www.harborfreight.com/fluid-siphon-pump-62613.html Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65175-1980-280zx-10-anniversary-car-red-black/?&page=3#findComment-621111 Share on other sites
May 5, 20213 yr comment_621112 Yeah, I would siphon it out.If you have an air supply, blowout nozzle, and a length of hose, you have a simple vacuum/siphon setup.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65175-1980-280zx-10-anniversary-car-red-black/?&page=3#findComment-621112 Share on other sites

Although red wouldn't be my first choice of interior color I'm surprised by your suggestion to change it out. The expense would be huge and it would hurt the originality of the car. I'll try the radio soon, but I don't think I have any cassette tapes. Did you write this under my single line? (Reply #19) i guess.. otherwise @Mike there is something wrong.. Your cassette player will need a bit of grease and a new belt at least.. that's my experience anyway. The radio a new lamp for the display. If you find a good cassette just wind it a few times up and down before you use it in play mode. Clean the head of the taperecorder with alcohol and a cuetip also the rubber roller check it for wear, it has to be smooth and clean, i always let the taperecorder run on play and let the rubber wheel against the capstanaxle "eat" the wet in alcohol cluetip so it winds around it and let it run a few minutes.. Some rubber wheels will be to old and desintegrate, then you have to look for a new one... After clean stop the recorder and take out the wooly stuff of the axle carefully! May 12, 20213 yr Author comment_621512 A red and black update. This Sunday I failed in getting a siphon to work to drain the tank so I just got busy and took it out. It had about 14 gallons in it and I took it to the proper disposal place. I un screwed the 8 bolts holding the sending unit in place and gently took it out. I can't see any gunk or crud in the tank. The float and everything looks clean and in proper working order. May 12, 20213 yr comment_621520 Mine was stuck at half after I got it. About 20,000 miles later it started working again. The small 1/4 gauge has always worked.
