Car is ready for paint. Told guy 918 paint. The car was orange but not sure it was the 918, original paint. He sent an image of fender with original orange and the pint of 918 he bought.

He said once clear coat goes on, it will be slightly darker. Does this look too dark for 918? it does to me

Wally,

Pierre Z did my car restoration about 19 years ago, and he also did most of the restorations in the Vintage Z

Restoration Program just before my car.  Needing some touch up paint myself, I just came across this label

and believe it to be the base coat paint used on my car.  The label, seen below, includes the formula and

manufacturer.  Disclaimer if you decide to use this, but thought it may be of interest to everyone.

Just saw something. Was it @CanTechZ that did a 918 recently? Maybe he's the one I'm thinking of? Please be the one! LOL

Or MotorMan7. Both do outstanding work and I only hope one day I could hire out my restoration. But I'm going to drive it until I can't get wheelchair in the hatch. A folding walker will fit fine until then.

Sorry, definitely not mine. I'm still in dis-assembly mode. Here is a picture photo shopped with @Wally's picture for comparison. It's the fuel inlet hose protector from the rear right wheel well after the under coating was removed.

Going thru this dilemma right now with my current customer . Needed to spray the engine bay . His is a 2/72 .

I thought 918 was the only orange , but when the painter mixed it he said it wasn’t even close . Too light of a color . He took the gas door in and matched it . The paint shop called it code 56?
It looks  Very close to Hemi orange . Was there two different orange colors ?
Same dilemma with interior color . White or is it off white ?

I will add that this car was re-sprayed at one time .

Sorry Wally, I would only be guessing.  The first number looks like a “1”, and the other numbers could be

” 0 or 9 or 8”.  Given the other additive codes,  a local auto paint supplier could probably figure the “Red Orange” amount.

I’ll try to get a whole car picture tomorrow, but here are a few in-garage pieces.

Thank you @AZ-240z. That's the one I remember seeing that looked so good. Right down to the torque paint. Fantastic job.

Much appreciated, @siteunseen .

@Wally ,  I got the car out into a clear Arizona morning for a few pictures of the 918 finish taken

with my iPad..  I included an under-hood picture for color contrast to validate the orange hue.
