texasz Posted June 9, 2003 Share #1 Posted June 9, 2003 I know that I'm probably the only person in the free world who had not seen this movie but I just finished watching it about 10 minutes ago and damn!!! There are some sweet cars in there, all Japaneese too. In the sequal they are using a Nissan Skyline! I can't wait to see that car.I'm just curious, I've seen where people get their hands on Skiline engines. Do these fit in 240Z cars and how much do they run? I'll bet they cost a mint since the car is not even abaliable in the states.
2ManyZs Posted June 9, 2003 Share #2 Posted June 9, 2003 Well, gues that means I'm now the only one who hasn't seen it... Just as well, I heard they had planned on calling it, "The Rice and the Ridiculous"..... :devious: Now we have a sequel, "Too Rice, Too Ridiculous"
Arizona240z Posted June 9, 2003 Share #3 Posted June 9, 2003 Your not alone.... I haven't seen it and I refuse to see it. From what I can tell, Mitsubishi put a lot of money into this thing they call a movie. I'm willing to bet it ends up being nothing but a 90 minute commercial for them.Just my opinion........ I could be wrong.
blitzkraig Posted June 9, 2003 Share #4 Posted June 9, 2003 Alright somebody with a really bitchin Z needs to cruise by the filming for one of those types of movies and make it so the producer won't let the movie go without a nice 240 Z.
PrOxLaMuS© Posted June 9, 2003 Share #5 Posted June 9, 2003 there is an Z in "To Fast To Furious".. look around in my opinion, that movie kicked arse, much better than the 1st, the races are awsome.. great filmatography excleent special effects... extreme stunts.... full of action, and less cheesy cars than you think. They look good and look fast on the movie, and thats waht gets my blood swirling.
1GENZED Posted June 9, 2003 Share #6 Posted June 9, 2003 I HAVE TO ADMITI JUST WATCHED "2 FAST 2 FURIOUS"ROFLIT WASN'T AS CRAPPY AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BETHE MITSUBISHI/CHRYSLER THING WAS A LITTLE TO OBVIOUSIS IT JUST ME OR DO MITSUBISHI FUNDED MOVIES ALWAYS HAVE AN AIRBORNE CAR THAT LANDS CONVENIENTLY ON A BOAT?IM NOT BIG ON AMERICAN CARS BUT THE COOLEST CAR AFTER THE SKYLINE HAS TO BE THE YENKO. THERE WHERE VERY SLIGHT HINTS OF A "RICED" UP 350Z BUT THEY DID NOT SHOW THE COMPLETE CAR ONLY SOME VERY CLOSE AND VAGUE SHOTS.
Hallaian42 Posted June 9, 2003 Share #7 Posted June 9, 2003 I just saw the sequal the other night as well. I too have to admit is wasnt as corny as i predicted. Along with alot of riced japanese cars, they added some american muscle in the mix as well which i really liked. The story is cheesy, but some of the cars and race scenes tightened my grip on my girlfriends hand on many occasions. By the way, I spotted one blue 350z in that movie and that was it. Anyone else see anything else interesting? That skyline was pretty awsome too.One other question....What is the deal with all the fire comming out the tail pipes on these cars? Does that really happen or is that just hollywood magic?
That Ozzy Guy Posted June 9, 2003 Share #8 Posted June 9, 2003 Aaah c'mon guys, don't get all 'I'm too good to watch this rice fest'. It's all in good fun and there are some really nice cars in it. It's a movie where cars are the main character and God knows we could all do with more of these so vote with your bum and show the producers we want more car related movies. Just ignore the acting if you can.Mitsubishi wasn't the only major sponsor. Anyone else notice "Sparco" about a hundred times? You'd think that there are no other brands of seats, gearknobs etc in USA.
ZmeFly Posted June 9, 2003 Share #9 Posted June 9, 2003 and whoever they had gotten to help them along with whats real and not must have been living on fantasy island with Tatooi wonder do they still show FWD cars doing burnouts from the rear. does a car with a blown motor and fried pistons still start right up and run from the cops?do the floors fall out from to much NAWWWSSS!is there anything that is faster then the hondas and mitsu's in the movie??the first one was an insult to any gear heads mind, if the second is anything like it ill wait to see it on tv:sick:
texasz Posted June 9, 2003 Author Share #10 Posted June 9, 2003 Question of the flaming tail pipe...I watched the bonus material on the DVD too and they showed some stuff about "Tricking Out a Hot Car", they of course picked a Mitus to do this to. Anyhow, the guy said that this does really happen to these cars if they are running very RICH. Now of course by these cars he's talking about the ones with $25k in aftermarket engine work etc. done to them. Not sure if you want to believe this or not, I'm just passing on what was said.I really did enjoy the racing and the cars. But nothing will pull me from my Z!! As interesting as the cars and mods were it truely is overkill. I am interested in seeing the new movie though.
TKR514 Posted June 9, 2003 Share #11 Posted June 9, 2003 To lean? A long time ago I had a Mustang with the 2.8L Capri V6 and a 4 speed. It would flame the pipe but I always assumed that it happend from being too rich in the shift. The trottle would close in the shift and then wide open afterwards. Don't know if it was the accelerator pump or the closed throttle plate BUT it got enough gas to "flame" out the pipe. That German V6 was probably the best 6 after the Nissan IMHO.I hear some new guys use propane injection directly into the exhaust pipe to get a loooooong lasting flame. That seems kinda cheezy, but it would be more impressive than the real thing.I, too, have not seen either movie... Maybe I just don't wan't to support a movie that promotes the Ricers way of driving. Don't know for sure, don't want more of 'em out there.
