The Fast and The Furious

Yeah i'm with Zmefly on the first version, and like texas Z i only saw it for the first time a week ago. I felt they should have called the first movie "the fake and the furious".

I saw an article on the sequel in motortrend and it said they were thinking of putting a 350z for one of the main roles. That article showed only 3 cars and those cars ain't fake. If they don't have a Jetta racing a viper in it then it might be worth a peek,

I'll see it when i get to watch it for free on a friends DVD or something.:devious:

the flames comming out of the car's is indeed real.

I watched the t.v. show "Trucks!" on TNN and they did a great example of how to install one and make it happen.

From what i remember... He drilled a hole in the exhaust tip... a few inches back, and put in a sparkplug. I guess that the exhuast coming out of cars is "still" flammable, and that sparkplug ignites the exhaust.

I don't remember exactly, but if you go out and buy some cheap materials you can do it for cheap.. or you can go....

FLAME - SINGLE EXHAUST FLAME THROWER KIT

MSRP: $175.00 YOUR PRICE: $125.99

Smores Not Included! The exhaust flame thrower kit is a must have for all hot rods. The kit can make up to 20’ flames shoot out your exhaust on command. The main control box will control 1 spark plug for optimal performance on single exhaust vehicles. Easy installation and detailed instruction insures compatibility with most exhaust systems. The kit includes control box, activation button, wire loom, and wire diagram. Please note the kit does not include the coil and spark plug needed for installation.

then again that's supposedly the professional way to do it.

The unburned gas that comes out of the exhuast is ususally filtered by a catalytic converter.... but who knows...

I will wait till it comes out on pay per view to see it. One thing I did notice on the preview is the part when the Mustang gets run over by the semi trailer is the view between the trailers, the car is a 2003 body style and the scene from the side the car is a 95 body style....... I love it when movies like this come out and motivate kids to do things to their cars. It gives me more game to hunt. :rambo:

Now we have a sequel, "Too Rice, Too Ridiculous"

your not wrong there, I remember the beginning of the first one, three riced Hondas practically valve bouncing trying to keep up with a truck that was cruising, now that's funny.

And they wrecked the best car in the movie - the charger

There not that expensive, it's just where to find them in the US.

Based on the prices here you are looking at $3500USD for the RB26DETT, $1400USD for the RB25DET and $800 for the RB20DET

The people who have finished it say the rest of the mods to complete take about $1500 - $2000USD more but I don't know about that, mine doesn't look like it's going to cost that much, maybe $1000USD more to finish but I might have forgotten about something. Maybe Cyong might comment on that

who needs spark plugs in the exhaust for flames my Rx4 13b jport motor will shoot 3 ft flames out the exhaust all you need is to rev it to 9400 rpm then back off real quick warms everyone up at the khanacrosses.

The fast and furious movies are fun i reckon just worry about these kids and the fact you just buy the parts to go faster take all the modifing and fun out of cars i reckon.

  • 1 month later...

This movie and it's sequel have a lot to answer for. It has had a noticeable effect on the young blokes in my area! I found this out last night when I went down to my local shops late last night.

On the way there I was driving down a narrow back street when some *%$#wit passed me on his motorbike. Not unusual being overtaken by a bike in my 4X4, but this guy did it front wheel in the air and engine screaming. He must of been doing 170 km/h to my 50.

Anyway he scared the crap out of me but I pressed on to the shops and found about 60 cars parked in the carpark and young blokes milling about in large numbers. Mostly commodores, 180SXs, hondas, skylines and old seventies muscle cars. I must have been early because they were still comparing shiny bits and had not got around to street racing yet.

I guess there has always been a street racing sub-culture in my town but I have never seen them in such large numbers in such a public location.

Is it just me or has anyone lese noticed this?

that reminds me of when i was you and stupid had the zed tweaked up running real sweet look like $^!# but went real good crusing down the highway at about 140 km and theres two z900 bikes passing a car on double lanes there sitting on about 120 km so i pass them and the car they are passing in one sandwiching them between me and the other car they where not happy shaking there fists and started chasing me so it was pedal to the metal rest of the way home flat out hard to shake till i got into town and new the back streets better than them was fun though

Keep it for the track these days but it is satisfying beating bikes on the road

Good story Mick, glad to see someone evening out the score.

IMO crotch rocket jockeys are all nuts. I witnessed one planting his bike into the side of a car when he ran a red light. Pretty nasty injuries but he was lucky he got thrown over the car and missed everything except the curb as he skidded off the road.
