I was changing out my fuel filter at my buddies hose and getting fuel all over his garage when he showed me these.

Wish I knew about them years ago, so much fuel down my arm. Helps when you’re messing with coolant lines to.

Thank you, these would’ve come in so handy when I was changing out fuel lines and the fuel pump, Had the whole floor covered in gas.

I'm replying on just the issue of blocking off the elbow that normally goes to the heater core and the concern that it will cause an overheating issue. My race car has no heater and that elbow has been removed and plugged. While we have blown head gaskets (13.5+:1 CR) it hasn't been related to overheating. On a car that sits at idle in traffic on a hot day, I agree that it should circulate.

site, I think you got your heater hose memory backward.  People get a hard time on the forums if they bypass the heater core, connecting the head outlet to the pump inlet.  The best way is to block it completely, if you just need to get by until you can buy new hoses.  If you use a bypass hose then hot coolant that has not gone through the radiator is passed right back in to the water pump.  Lowers the effectiveness of the cooling system.

dylancorrea those are the original hoses.  They could split at any moment, spewing coolant everywhere and letting your engine overheat.  Then you probably will need a new head gasket.  It's pretty common for those old hoses to blow.  5/8" heater hose from any auto parts store will work.

Thank you, I have replaced the leaking one and I am going to look into replacing, the longer one with an actual braided hose.
