The car was from Sydney actually. And you can bet a gold bar to a bent button that I'm happy with it.

I just spoke to the current owner of my other car and he's very happy with it. Says the a/c unit is working great off all the old vents and everything else is fine except it needs a wheel alignment. I'm glad it's gone to someone who will look after it.

Back on topic...

(sorry)

Hi guys, love this topic, can anyone finger the team who installed the aircon for $1300.00 AUS. I have two doors that need scratching, bull (IF THEY WANT TO DIE). No seriously I am interested if this is a good conversion. Love to see some pics if the new owner is willing. I have a Zed with aircon but it is a 71 vintage unit so its as old as the car. I want to install aircon in the 73.

cheers

Btw, I installed electric windows, power steering and it was hooked up to the alarm on my old Z. To tell you the truth seeing as the car was all original it felt wrong after I put all those things on. Besides, it's just more electrical stuff that can and will go wrong at some stage.

George did you have power steering on an early Z? I know the 280zx pumps and tensioners fit but what rack or mods did you use?

It has been done. I remember the 2001 nationals in Shepparton the guy next to me had a red 260z 2+2 convertable 302 v8 with pwer steering, remember him saying the rack was from a subaru and had it done in Sydney but can't remember where?:stupid:

thanks for all the info. Looks like most of you here are from Australia..

It's a hard decision for me to make tho, because I love the car in original condition, but at the same time, i would like to add A/C, Power locks and alarm, and a sound system. But it would look so out of place.

The air-con was plumbed in by z spares down here in Melbourne and uses the original air-vents. It's very neat and the only thing you can see is a little box under the dash and some gizmos under the bonnet.
