The lines them selves are 3/16 tubing. I use the copper nickel line and buy it from thestopshop.com, usually through Amazon. Jim @zKars and @Patconrecently helped me get the materials to do the job right. Make sure you use or order the M10x1.0 fitting on the copper nickel tubing. You can buy a bender or carefully bend em by hand. I had my machine shop make me a couple that I bent into shape. You can also buy straight lines already made in different lengths and bend those. You need to make sure they are square to the female receiver to make a secure leak free joint. I will have to wait and see when I actually put fluid in the system and bleed it. By the way, getting the new seals on can be difficult, but they are made out of some amazingly tuff stuff. I found that using straight dishwashing liquid on them made it possible to stretch and slip them into place where they needed to go. To get the sleeves out, I believe I chucked the master cylinder in my glass bead cabinet (after cleaning any wet gunk off with lacquer thinner). Stripping all of the corrosion off of the casting as well as those little parts made it much easier to get them "unstuck" from where they sit. April 17, 2024Apr 17 comment_664220 Thanks for the input everyone. @Terrapin Z, I'll reach out about that cylinder you have. And @inline6, did you have to pry those valve seat sleeves out, or did they pretty much fall out after you had cleaned everything up? Well, that may be how your life goes, but that's not how stuff works for me. Hahahaha!! I'm gonna toss the master in the ultrasonic cleaner and see what happens after that. If I can't get those valve seats out, I'll just leave them alone. As long as they are clean, they don't seem to be causing any trouble. Let it sit in a bucket of wd-40 for a few days, then put it in a vice and used an air compressor to blow everything out. It cleaned up nicely, with no issues. Sorry about that CO, the car had been frankencared at some point in it's life, I bought it for the early parts that are on there but not everything is original year wise. No, no. No apologies necessary! When you posted up a pic of that master cylinder, my immediate thought was "Weird... Why would someone switch the plastic reservoirs from F to R?" Well the answer is "They didn't. It's a new style master that has the "F" closer to the firewall. Duh." Couldn't see the forest through the trees! Oh. and the hardware arrived over the weekend. Looks great. I'm sure there will be something in there I can use for my starter. And the level of patina is perfect! Note that it has the two output ports located between the two reservoir tanks: Hopefully one that comes apart without a permanently disfiguring fight because it doesn't look like this inside: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65579-brake-master-cylinder-46010-e4602-up-to-91971/?&page=2#findComment-664364 Share on other sites
