dylancorrea1 Posted September 2, 2021 Share #1 Posted September 2, 2021 My taillights worked fine until now. The other day I took it out for a spin the right side lights stopped working. I blew both fuses that have to do with brake lights and taillights, replaced and they did not blow. Another bit of info the bottom taillights do not come on, only the brake lights, not sure if the bottoms are for turn signals or emergency lights didn’t check but if someone could explain that would be nice. My issue goes like this: Light off- hit brakes - left brake light comes on- right brake light doesn’t. Lights on- left brake light on -right brake light on- hit brakes- left brake light gets brighter- right brake does not. Thank you. Zed Head Posted September 2, 2021 Share #2 Posted September 2, 2021 I had a socket melt on mine. They get some corrosion and will heat up enough to melt the plastic. The contacts end up touching and you get a direct short to ground.
dylancorrea1 Posted September 2, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted September 2, 2021 I had a socket melt on mine. They get some corrosion and will heat up enough to melt the plastic. The contacts end up touching and you get a direct short to ground. The socket is actually semi melted, the two contact points inside the socket are exactly even, one of the contact points if perfect, the other is a little slanted and a bit more in still makes connection though. Any fix for this?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SteveJ Posted September 3, 2021 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2021 For the dual contact sockets, you can get these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001RPV6GE Here's the single contact: https://www.amazon.com/Pico-Universal-Replacement-Phenolic-Weatherproof/dp/B001RPTMYC They also are available in bulk. I just added them to my Amazon wish list.
SteveJ Posted September 3, 2021 Share #5 Posted September 3, 2021 If you need just a couple, this may work out cheaper searching vendors here: https://www.google.com/search?q=pico+phenolic+contact&sxsrf=AOaemvIFZRsPlAWEcaxJyauvypZlYuMWXA:1630631418539&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwihitizz-HyAhVEhOAKHaHUDDMQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1920&bih=

SteveJ Posted September 3, 2021 Share #7 Posted September 3, 2021 The first two links are just for 1 set of contacts each. It would probably be best if I shoot a video on what you would need to do. This may be a better place to shop if you need several. Here is a single contact: https://www.wiringdepot.com/store/p/449-JT-T-2557F-1-Wire-Universal-Single-Contact-Light-Socket-Pigtail-Base-w/-Fiber-Washers-Tension-Spring-2-Pcs.aspx Here is the two contact: https://www.wiringdepot.com/store/p/449-JT-T-2557F-1-Wire-Universal-Single-Contact-Light-Socket-Pigtail-Base-w/-Fiber-Washers-Tension-Spring-2-Pcs.aspx You will need to splice in the new contact. You may want to get a good crimping tool with a ratcheting action if you plan to use butt splices.

There are two options one with a spring and the other with a boot, which do I purchase? I also have a crimping tool but the most basic one, if needed I can go to home-depot and buy a wrench action one. Thank you.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
