Posted June 11, 200321 yr comment_40540 As mine is a 260z, i always assumed it had an R200 but a recent R180 to R200 comparison photo i found led me to think mine looks more like a R180.Any experts can resolve this by spot inspection? June 11, 200321 yr comment_40542 From here it looks like an R180, see the atttached pic to work it out for sure. The R 200 has a squarer outline when looked at from the arse. If its an r200 you are after, just found a shop that has a long nose r200 cluch type lsd 4.3 ratio for 750. June 11, 200321 yr comment_40543 and the mustache bar i would be prone to believe its an R180, they were stock on the 260Z us model but i dont know if that was different for the au model Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6580-identify-the-diff/#findComment-40543 Share on other sites

June 11, 200321 yr Author comment_40546 the rear casing looks more closely matching to the r200 rear photo given above...but the front nose looks like an r180 picture i found....:stupid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6580-identify-the-diff/#findComment-40546 Share on other sites
June 11, 200321 yr comment_40547 Yeah thats the only place I could find that would even knew what a long nose diff was, the other local mob were shocking . I change my vote, I think maybe it is an r200, its certainly got a very square outline. The R180 rear outline is much more rectangular, I go for an r200 now. June 11, 200321 yr Author comment_40548 I was advised that an LSD R200 would probably need a rebuild by now anyhow, making it prohibitively expensive for me at the moment......$750 in top shape would be a bargain, but no way of me knowing. June 11, 200321 yr comment_40564 It's an R-200... you can usually tell by the vent on top.. the R-200 sits further to the right on the case than the R-180 which sits more in the middle of the rear case. June 11, 200321 yr Author comment_40577 hahaha whats the deal, i am being damned left right and centre over the last 2 days by "datto-zed" and now you datto-zed wasnt happy with the suspension I own and your not happy with me owning my diff Are you looking at getting an LSD from that place? They had more ratios than 4.3 last time I spoke to them. June 11, 200321 yr comment_40578 I just emailed them about the diff on their site, But steered away from it for the same reason you did, who the hell knows what the guts of it are really like. It could have come from some little old japanese ladys Z that got ran into, or it could have come out of an ex drift car that reached the end of its useful life. Besides, I have three R180 diffs to blow before I need to upgrade Maybe after that I will get one. Besides I now have a friend who is importing container loads of crap, so I will try him first (not sure what my chances are like though) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/6580-identify-the-diff/#findComment-40578 Share on other sites
