September 29, 20213 yr comment_629155 None of the 280Z's have replaceable propeller shaft joints.Ā The last model to have them was the 260Z.Ā And that was probably only the small bumper 260's. September 30, 20213 yr Author comment_629232 So will a 260 or 240 driveshaft fit a 280? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65860-280z-propeller-shafts-with-4-speed/#findComment-629232 Share on other sites
September 30, 20213 yr comment_629236 They will.Ā But the first year and a half, about, of 240Z's used a shorter shaft. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65860-280z-propeller-shafts-with-4-speed/#findComment-629236 Share on other sites
October 7, 20213 yr Author comment_629694 I found a guy with a 71 240z driveahaft, its 1" shorter. Are the auto vs manuals versions the same? October 8, 20213 yr comment_629717 They are. But that's probably a very early 240Z shaft used on the cars with the forward-set differentials.Ā Those used a shorter propeller shaft.Ā People use them with the 71C transmission conversion, but they're too short for a stock 280Z coupe with a 71B transmission. Edit - actually I think that it would work but you'd lose that inch of engagement with the transmission.Ā I think it might be closer to 1 1/2" if I recall right.
