Posted October 3, 20213 yr comment_629425 I broke a bolt on the water inlet and am having a hard time removing the inlet. Any hints. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65878-l28-water-inlet/ Share on other sites
October 3, 20213 yr comment_629429 That’s actually the outlet where the thermostat is.  But what bolt did you break. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65878-l28-water-inlet/#findComment-629429 Share on other sites

October 3, 20213 yr comment_629432 If you can get yhe other bolts out, then you might be able to rotate the housing by hand and pull it off the fragment . Then the fun begins Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65878-l28-water-inlet/#findComment-629432 Share on other sites
October 3, 20213 yr comment_629435 It looks like both of the bolts that attaches the housing to the head are broken in the pic. There is usually a lot of corrosion in those bolt holes in the housing and that front one is long. Maybe PB Blaster, some tapping, heat, and later some gentle prying repeated multiple times may free it up so you can slide the housing off and then get the bolts out.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/65878-l28-water-inlet/#findComment-629435 Share on other sites
October 3, 20213 yr comment_629437 Jar it with a sand hammer on both sides and it might pry off with a little persuasion. If you look at the FSM it will illustrate how it’s mounted on the head itself. Should pull off towards the driver side fender. October 3, 20213 yr comment_629443 Very fortunate they did not snap off at the head. Still a lot of fun ahead once the housing is removed. Back and forth with small increments may have prevented them snapping off. Had about a 50% luck ratio trying that method. As you know sometimes it just isn’t going to budge….
